Hi guys. My 2008 puma is about to run out of waranty and i'm having its last service done in the next few weeks. What list of things should i get the dealer to check before the waranty runs out?Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards
Eck:)

I'd be getting an independant specialist to check it out and give you a list of what requires attention, prior to the last service. NRMA may do end of warranty inspections, RACQ do.

Hi Eck.
Has your vehicle been a good example of the Puma or a troublesome one as so many seem to report? Reason I ask is I'm sitting on the fence a bit about what to buy next.
I have a mate whose Puma is also about end of warranty period and he couldn't be happier with the it.
It has been totally reliable and he's done a lot of kays to and from the East and Perth plus around the top end and Q/Land, Tassie etc.
Service from the main stealer has also been excellent which seems to be a rarity as well but nice to hear.
I'm always pleased to hear the good news story as it's inching me towards "buying with the heart not the head" although the Cook has yet to be convinced, because backup away from Perth or any other main city is bad.
We had a problem with our TD5 Defender and neither of us has quite managed to forget the cost and inconvenience and spoilt holiday yet.
Tell me it's all good news.:D
Cheers.
Alan.

Always buy with your heart not your head is my motto. That's not to say you buy in ignorance or in denial just that you go for what you love and take the good with the bad.
I've read a lot of stories from people here that have been driven to the brink but in a big majority of cases they say how much they love the car. Defenders even the bad ones eventually settle down.
I love getting out around the country especially when it involves a camp. Me, if I looked across from my fire with a cold beer and had to look at my Hilux, Prado, Nissan, well I'm not sure I'd bother actually.

I do tend to sit with my back to the plastic Prado James but sometimes I do glance round to see the wonderful polish job I did after it's last scratching!
Which is one of the reasons apart from loving the damn things, I'm thinking again about a Defender.
Cook says I'm mad (she loves them as well though but is more likely to buy with the head) and she should know as she's lived with me for more years than I can remember.

Hi Al.
We had a 2003 TD5 and had a great run out of it. A few niggly things but nothing major.
Our 2008 puma had a new gear box at about 15k this was the most inconvienient thing that happened but LR was really good and supplied me with another car while it was fixed.Apart from that a few door seals that fell off and were damaged so they replaced them. Just had the ignition and keys replaced in the last week or 2 because it jammed in the ignition and we couldn't get the key in or out or turn it. Oh and the diff lock light didnt come on on the dash but the replaced that as well
apart from that it hasn't skipped a beat.
I've seen the posts on various faults and thats why im enquiring on what things to get checked
