I gave a poor woman a fright last week

Picture this

I had just got my new tyres fited and dropped of 6 at a depot for pawky, I'm feeling good

I see a nice new D4 and drive up alongside to have a look only to see the bonnet was not shut properly

You can only imagine the hand signals and the look on her face as I was trying to explain at 110 kmh her bonnet was flapping about in the wind

I drove forward and indicated to her to get her to pull over and I would close for her but she continued on regardless. I hope she got it shut before anything bad happened

Anyway looking back it was a little amusing, if the owner of the driver is reading I hope she is ok along with the D4

I was following a Rodeo down the M4 last week with the tailgate down and a set of golf clubs inching their way towards the opening with every bump in the road... :eek:

I was doing much the same as you - trying to get the guy to pull over. I thought my obviously unprovoked, urgent and non-threatening hand gestures would have ticked off the "somethings wrong" part of his brain, but no. He gave me the finger and floored it.

Caught him at the lights to Parramatta Rd and beeped at him - his response was to wind down his window and say "What the **** is your problem?!"

..."I was just letting you know that your tailgate was open and you're about to lose your golfclubs."

*red face and much mumbling as he closes it and gets back in - and winds his window up*

"You're welcome. Arsehole..."

I received similar treatment when I alerted the driver that the vehicle's rear tyre was flat.

Eventually he pulled over.

Having overtaken to let him know I then stopped and reversed back to see if he needed a hand.

Grumpy old so and so just grunted a curt "no".

The worst part was he was driving a Discovery.:mad:

Funny,

when Im at work people seem to stop when we ask or signal, rarely give us the finger or ignore us and if they do usually they feel the need shortly later to apologise profusely!:twisted:


but when Im trundling about in my own vehicle, people can be rude and the Bird is "flying" again!!:mad:

I had a bloke whose cement mixer attached to the back of his truck had jumped the ball and was lurching forward and back on the (single large) chain off his truck ...all the crap (well work gear :) ) on his truck was rattling etc so I suppose he didnt hear it. Luckily it was a shorter chain so not much swing etc!

He ignored flashing headlights and my very poor attempt at one handed still driving charades!! (got a funny look from him and his young co worker!!!) Young fella gave me the bird but looked like driver chipped him for it so fair enough! :o

Anyway I had to stop for a few minutes to pick up one of my 'tin lids' and as he was doing abt 90 in a 110 chased after him. About 2 kms later there was the truck rearranging his load and making room for a very worse for wear cement mixer! (obviously got out of that chain!) :p

I stopped and explained that even though he thought I was nuts that is what I was trying to tell him... he explained that his young apprentice had packed up and attached the mixer and apparently not secured it with a locking pin...

Young fella was very contrite (and builder made him apologise to me for the bird!):D:D Helped them load the battered but probably easily repairable mixer on the truck and off we all went...

About 20 years ago I saw a car parked in a roadside stop in the Western district with its front number plate hanging by one corner ( & I knew the next town had a mean copper & speed bumps & they would lose the plate) so I did a uee & pulled up next to them & waved -they just looked at me, so I yelled can you wind your window down, which they did by about 50mm & when they heard my story, said "oh really" like I was lying ( American accent), so I said yup, either that or I think every day is April 1 & left them to it. I remember saying to myself, I hope this country never gets that way, but, largely, it has.:(

A little birdy told me that electrical tape or even electrical cable also do the job when you run out of cable ties... :wasntme:

It's more common than I thought, she never gave me the bird right enough.

But like in a previous post I to work in an industry where you raise a hand or make a gesture and everyone stops. We all look out for each other

Changing the theme to positive....I was driving around Bunbury a while back and came up behind an old ford escort with an elderly gent driving. I followed him to the local shops where I stopped behind his parking spot and told him his keys were still in the boot (a huge bunch as well)!!! I said I followed him in case they fell out.

To my surprise he laughed out loud and said he had lost his normal keys this morning after looking everywhere and had to resort to the spares....when he eventually found them.

A better response than some drivers!!
