Getting very close to buying my dream car, a Range Rover Sport TDV6, The question I would like to ask all owners of the RRS is would you buy another one if you had your time over again. I have read all about the small electrical issues that seem to crop up and I wonder is there any options I should fore go such as the memory pack to avoid these problems. Also the dealer told me that Range Rover is splitting from Land Rover, will this have any other effect other than a badge change (I notice the green Land Rover Badge on the RRS is now black). Any feedback would be appreciated. Drove one on the weekend for the first time and it really is a revelation after the Nissan Patrol.

Range Rover is not splitting from Landrover - it is just that the RR will not in the future carry Landrover badges as it does at present.
I have had my MY07 RRS TDV6 for three months putting up 8000kmm in that time - no real issues at all. I must admit that I am somewhat underwhelmed by it as a "luxury" vehicle as it really sits about a mid level Commodore in equipment level - as such I do not think the RRS is value for money if bought new but an astute buyer can do OK when buying second hand. There are lots of low km versions out there. The equivalent new (and second hand) D3/D4 is better value but I do not like the the body style of those - more practical for offroad and touring than the RRS`though.
Yes I would buy again.

Definitely would buy again. The car does everything with ease and aplomb. The newer 2010/11 models are far nicer internally, but all are comfortable, especially over long distances. There's much more, but I'd sound like I'm drooling :)

When I replace my current one it will be the first replacement vehicle that we don't consider the market RRS without question wife's orders and I'm happy that she is happy & it's her daily driver.

I would definitely buy another RRS in the future, but only if they offer the 4.4 TDV8 to replace my 3.6 TDV8. There is no way I could go backwards from the current engine, it is too addictive.
If they decide not to offer the 4.4 TDV8 in the RRS then I'll just have to buy the FFRR (but I can't do that until I'm over 40) so this one needs to last a few years yet.

I already did traded in my 2007 TDV8 on a 2010 TDV8. was going to wait until this june to swap it over but when I heard there were no more TDV8's in 2011 model it was either buy a 2010 TDV8 or wait and get a petrol V8. The deal i got was just to good not to take up.
I have never had a problem that wasn't fixed straight away by my dealer. :)

There's always a few people who have a less-than-enjoyable experience, no matter what brand of car:
The Toyota Landcruiser 200 oh what a lemon (http://members.iinet.net.au/~oldenglish/)

And LR should be right on it and if the dealer won't fix the problem they shouldn't sell LR's.LR should not let this happen. Pat

My '08 TDV8 has been a pleasure to own.. Have had a couple of issues that have been fixed straight away by either ULR or Lance Dixon. It took them a couple of tries to fix the front suspension knock which is now less noticeable than our new D4. The engine is fantastic. I have tried the 3ltr and still much prefer the TDV8..Looking forward to the 4.4 being fitted to the RRS in the future maybe.
Having said that I have just taken delivery of 2.7 D4 (for the missus) which is a major step forward.. It's quieter, excellent quality inside and handles better than my RRS. Of course no where near as much power but still more than adequate.

Yep, I'd buy another one without hesitation, albeit the next one will be a diesel. I've come from a whole series of fast cars, going from a 2003 M3 BMW to an old P38 Range Rover 3 years ago, then the RRS 15 months ago. Mine hasn't been a paragon of reliability, needing a fair few repairs (all the common failed components) in the last 50k kms but it's never actually broken down and left us stranded. I know you shouldn't accept certain 'ailments' on a vehicle of this value but I do, because it's just such a good car in every way, it really is the car for every purpose. It's quick enough, handles pretty well, carts all our gear around, tows the caravan, gets used for the shopping, holidays, offroad and trips to the dump.
I suppose mine is a little different though, so it does make me far more forgiving. My approach is to be as knowledgable as possible, that way I have an idea as to what it's playing at. The engine management light comes on at the slightest sneeze with LR vehicles and if it's serious, it'll protect itself and you by stopping. If not, it'll keep going and leave you with a trip to the dealer to find out what's up.
