i had a small wobble in my engine fan and thought "itl be right till i change the engine" well...... WRONG. the fan exploded on my way home tuesday and it took out my radiator, power steering, some coolant hoses and a nice big dint in the bonnet. it was doing 4500rpm when it went pop, mmm less of a pop and more of a BANG!!!!! sounded like it threw a leg out. luckily tho it happened 100m from my house so it wasn't hard to get home.

I feel your pain, the exact same thing happened to me about two months ago - took out radiator and hoses etc too, as well as my battery box and dented my bonnet in two places  Oh and my radiator was only a few weeks old !!!

Right, how many kilometers had these fans done, maybe we can create a MTBF and I can replace mine before it blows!

My fan was about a month old, a couple of weeks older than my radiator  It was sold as an OEM fan and looked identical to the original - except the viscous part of it worked much better (as does my new new one - it fair roars now). Guess it was flawed. Broke in the same way that Wangle's did - in a circle around the centre hub. Was pulling around 4500rpm also, it was a very hot day (40+) - scared the beejesus out of me when it went - very loud

Did you find much of a Power Upgrade by Converting to Electric Thermo Fans?
