Does anyone know where can I buy a fuel filler cover locally .It should save me cleaning the hole out after a muddy or dusty trek. I have done a search but It looks like I missed out on the bulk buy by a few years.

Google for Defendoor.

Take Miky's advice :)
I ordered the Defendoor from the UK. Excellent product and the 6.70 GBP price (approx $11 AUD at the moment) includes worldwide shipping, so it's a lot cheaper than buying the same thing locally. From memory it arrived about a week after I ordered it.

I have sucessfully left my 2 at the garage when filling up for fuel over the years.;)

One of these had the AULRO logo on it so hopefuly was found by a fellow Defender owner! :p

There may be a few members in the same boat as me as well as a few new members that may want these. They are great and look the goods to.

Perhaps if there is enough interest then there could be a group buy.

A group buy will be required for the AULRO logo.

Let's see what interest there is...

I found it best to stick a little hanger on the inside and tie a thin chord to a point within the filler area by the cap, it will then just hang there when filling up and not get left on the top of the pump!

A few Km down the road after filling up I always got paranoid that I'd forgotten to put the fuel cap back on.
Now I have a system - I always put the filler cap and the defendoor on the driver's seat when I fill up. That way I can't drive off and leave the cap sitting on top of the bowser. The defendoor has the added bonus that I can (just) see it in the side mirror
Of course it's only the puma that has this problem - the filler cap on my County was attached to a chain... And it had a filler tube wide enough to make a Boeing 747 jealous :)
I'd be in for a group buy of defendoors with the AULRO logo.

Hi guys,

I have some information on these and I will share them on a new thread. I think that will be easier. I will also put the names of the people that have shown interest so far. I am thinking of gaining the interest over March and then placing the order in April.

I will be overseas from the 18th March to the 2 April so this is probably best done for me when I get back.

We need 100 for a bulk order to secure a good price. Price will be $10 (as per last time).

All details will be on the new thread.

They work pretty well.
Fortunately I've still got mine, and the spare I purchased last time.
There was still some bull dust behind the 'door' but I would hate to think what would have been in there without it.

As can be seen the door had distorted a bit due to the build up of crud under the bottom edge, laid it flat for a while after we got back and all was OK.
