Thinking of heading down around Anglesea/Aireys Inlet this w/e. Can't seem to find any info about bush camping in the area especially with our Kid Replacement Therapy (KRT). Not really into caravan parks. Any info would be great.
We are prepared to go as far as Apollo Bay if that helps:)

Hi Wardy
Have a look at Princetown, a bit further up the road and not exactly bush camping. Its an old disused football ovel now used as a camp ground. I think its dog freindly and has safe swimming for the kids or a surf beach if you want, the fishing was ok.

Fairly pretty spot with a pub and a general store within walking distance from the ovel. Not too far from the Ocean Road highlights.

Not sure how you contact the ranger if you cant find it on Google PM me and will try to get a phone no.

How remote do you want it? Or do you want some facilities?

a heads up regarding camping this weekend in the otways. several camp/picnic sites are closed due to ongoing fuel reduction burns being conducted. this not only is limiting the camping spaces available but as a natural by-product of the process native animals are particularly vulnerable at present. please consider this with regard to allowing dogs off the leash, irrespective of the forest park/national park status.
also, depending on the size of the dogs in question it is also worth considering that one group of natives, the raptors, are particularly active atm, being engaged in a seasonal feeding frenzy ! i watched two wedgetails make very short work of an unfortunate swamp wallaby this week.
from the humans point of view the residual fire activity means recently burnt areas are very dangerous. falling tree limbs and hot ash pits can be potentially life threatening. last year two cretinous mountain bikers who deliberately ignored warning signage fell into ash pits and suffered extremely severe burns. sadly the trail bike fraternity also seem to derive great pleasure from wrecking these warning signs so please use common sense.

Thanks for the replies everyone, since my mate and his family have bailed (again....) we're heading into the hills near Seaton instead. Will keep all the above in mind though, thanks again.
