I have contacted Mark from Defendoor in the UK and can provide the following info for interested parties...

Thanks Nigel for your purchase and new interest.

I would first like to address the lost covers and hope that they were not due to falling off. If so, they would come under our guarantee and I'd send you new ones. The common problem is that people tend to forget them at the filling station. We have tried 5 different glues and ultrasound welding for the purpose of attaching a tether. The material is indeed very resistant and all attempts have failed.

Here is a photo of our first attempt with ultrasound welding - the idea was to create a hook on the inside and a pull tab on the front side. It appeared to be a good weld but fell apart rather easily.

I do have a couple options which may indeed interest you. It is very easy to poke a hole through the top lip. I use the word 'poke' because I found that using a hot nail is better than drilling. It forms a small ridge around the hole which in turn provides reinforcement.

Here is another idea which has worked very well. Using a hot screwdriver tip, we poked two slots in the front of the cover and pulled one of those zip ties through. This provided a connection point and doubles as a pull tab for easier removal.

Here is a picture of the front side. I have a friend using this method for nearly two years without a problem.

Again, if your covers were lost because they fell off at high speed or something, we'll replace them.


Pretty good company that truly backs their product and they got back to me quick too!

Hi,I did get one last time. A mighty fine unit, excellent value, and promptly delivered etc. But, sadly, I then discoveed that 130 filler aperture is larger than 110.Is there a 130 version? I am heading off overseas so unsure of the network coverage I will have. I will finalise the orders upon my return around the 4th of April as I am fairly sure we will have at 100 by then.

Hi all,

As promised, I want to give everyone an update on the Defendoor Bulk Order.

The AULRO versions were hotstamped on Wednesday this week and the total order for all Defendoors was posted out Friday 15th April.

There is a 8 - 10 day delivery estimate to Australia.

The customers service from Mark at Defendoors has been first class and very helpful.

I have paid for all 120 Defendoors upfront and in full.

So far, I have recevied payment from around 70% of all AULRO members which is great.

As soon as I can after I receive them, I will arrange to have them posted to all members who have paid.

I am interstate travelling to Brisbane & Darwin for work between the 3rd and 12th May inclusive, so hopefuly I receive them before my travels and get time to sort them and mail them out. It may be tight, and Easter may slow me receiving them in time, but just wanted everyone to know.

I have spent the last few hours sorting through them and getting them ready to send out to you all - well to everyone who has paid for them anyway.

The plan is to send them out tomorrow (Monday 2nd May). Most people should have them in the next few days.

Everyone has paid apart from 7 members, so I have sent them another private message as a reminder.:angel:

I hope I am not stuck with their orders. I only have 1 Defender!:p

If I do not hear anything in the next 2 weeks, I will offer them for sale to people who missed out on this bulk purchase.
