I hope I've read this wrong... but I just noticed in the marketplace (under the ebay sticky) that this item was sold on e-bay yesterday for way less than it should have been...

Range Rover Autobiography (1997) 4D Wagon 4 SP Auto (eBay item 280638976176 end time 09-Mar-11 09:45:49 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Range-Rover-Autobiography-1997-4D-Wagon-4-SP-Auto-/280638976176?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item415762f0b0#ht_560wt_1141)

I don't want to upset anyone, especially the seller Dallas, but is it rude to ask if anyone is selling their P38 to try and let us know here? I wouldn't have minded a dig at that one, I have a scale version on the trophy case!

So did anyone here buy it?

Looks gorgeous from the outside but what's with the "Two Tone" Leather Seats...???

I would that would have been a good price for a 97 P38 - despite the wishes of a whole bunch of people the market has decided long ago that P38s are not worth much - as a result a lot of people are really happy as they can buy a lot of car for not a lot.

I actually went and saw it, nice ride.

The bad points were:
needed a new paint job on the bonnet and roof
couple of mandatory scratches here and there
needed a new CC ecu
roof lining was sagging.

The good points were:
Leather interior was in relatively good nick
only done about 150,000 Kms
Heaps of new electrics, updates to Bosch etc
Dallas had a faultmate so kept on top of everything
the trip computer said he was averaging 17L/100Km. (he also lives in a pretty hilly suburb)

Overall, I found it to be a really nice RR, and being in the market for one, found that the person who bought it probably got slightly better value for money

Autobiography. That is how they were.

It is pretty hard to get anything like the money a P38 should comand.
P38s are the most undervalued vehicle on the road in my opinion.
Sure they are pricey to buy parts for but most work on them can be carried out by any competant back yard mechanic.
It was fair value for a 97 just the same.

No issue with the price (although I would like to have paid so little and agree they should all command much better values), I'm just disappointed I couldn't add a nice looking autobiography to my non existant P38 collection! What P38 Tragic wouldn't want a lower volume/limited edition version or two? ;)

This ultra rare and probable the ultimate P38 ( when new ) could only fetch less than A$25k in the UK

RANGE ROVER 630R OVERFINCH FULL SPEC 1999 STUNNING !!! on eBay (end time 23-Mar-11 22:18:36 GMT) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RANGE-ROVER-630R-OVERFINCH-FULL-SPEC-1999-STUNNING-/110653294485?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19c3734795)

Hate to say it but P38 Range Rovers have fallen in value here as well. Are now worth more as parts than the whole car in many cases.

Too many have been run by people who have not spent the time maintaining them more interested in the image. Have to be in very good condition to sell

ha! would love to understand how they (Overfinch) did the " integration" re. bell housing and electronics. Given the time elapsed I wonder if they'd be prepared to share their IP? ...as a public service to us ageing P38 fanatics !!

I looked at and drove a very nice 2001 HSE with LPG pretty neat car (Black)
yesterday.
They want 18k for it i was pretty tempted but it doesnt go as well as my 95 which i found quiet surprising and it has 100k less milage on it than mine.

But if i put gas on mine it wont be worth 15k. LOL

Where is the correct place to let everyone know if we are selling our P38?
I am looking at trading my 2000 HSE in the very near future, happy to give an honest description - I'd rather see it go to someone here than a dealer... havent advertised it at all, not sure I could be bothered with the hassle.

Correct place it in the Market place adds, still I would then put a post on this forum with a link to the add.
