Disco 1 and Rangie autos?

G'day everyone just a quick tech question,

I need to get a new auto for my disco 1 its a 3.9L, now i know the auto from the rangie 3.9L is the same but i have sourced what i think is an auto from a 3.5 rangie locally in a Cairns wreckers. So long story short, are the 3.5 and 3.9 autos the same and fit straight in or do i need to keep searching for a 3.9 box?

The boxes are not the same except AFAIK for a 3.5 RRC with viscous coupling, some of which were built in 1989.
The earlier box which is a 2HP22 will physically fit a 3.9 (which has a 4HP22) but may not last very long , particularly as it is already old.
IMHO , I would look some more for a 3.9 box.
There are some in the AULRO market section, and probably worth the freight.
