This image of a jet in Japan that was pushed by the tsunami
Just wonder how many planes were lost in the local airport.
It will be a massive job to move all the scrap.

A huge job removing the debris and rebuilding.
It seems that the JSDF has lost at least one Squadron of aircraft, probably more, and an unknown number of personnel and facilities.
As all of these aircraft have been submerged in salt water they are complete write off's.
Looks like the pacific rim of fire is having a bit of cyclic stress relief, glad I dont live in either Japan or NZ atm, California must be getting a bit worried, Its been about a 108 yrs since the yanks last big earthquake, seems they are due as well.
Hopefully Japan will be the last natural distaster for sometime, 2011 hasnt been a good year so far.

Have a search on the net for pic's of the smelters set up on the islands after WW2 - makes you wanna cry..... massive piles of aircraft, tanks and whatever else you like getting cut up and turned into ingots - lost forever.
Matt.
