I have just received the hinged front lamp guards from Paddocks that I ordered and there are no install instructions at all. Just a couple of bits and pieces. Has anyone installed these that can help me please? Juddy?

Have you tried here?

Owner Info (http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp)

They have instructions for the genuine lamp guards (http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/servlet/peachviewfile't=1300677171755/Front_Lamp_Guards.pdf) (this link may not work as the system can time out).

I fitted the genuine lamp guards on my 90 just after I got it. They are fairly easy to fit but you will need to use some rivnuts for the top bolts so the guards can swing down to access the headlamps.

Hope this helps!!

Do you reckon you could get away with just fixing them to the bottom?

Drew, I wouldn’t leave the top of the guard unfixed. I don’t think that just having two screws at the bottom would keep the lamp guards secure enough driving around on sealed roads let alone off-road surfaces such as corrugations or high speed dirt driving.

If you didn’t get any Rivnuts with your lamp guards you should be able to buy them from most hardware/tool shops or a bolt and fastener shop. To fit the Rivnuts, you can either use a proper Rivnut tool or you can use a bolt, nut and some washers with a pair of spanners.

If you do a search, I remember that Blknight did a write up or a tutorial of the latter method some time ago.

Bit late on this one, but seems you are sorted, I think yours would be different to mine, mine are the ones that do not require fixing to the body work, they attach to the light surround. What type did you go for???

Hey Drew

Here is the link:

If the link dosen't work search "rivnut" in all sections.

I went for the ones that fix to the body panels as I thought they were the best! Dammit, too late now. I have got the ones that are the same as the genuine ones :/
