Guys,
I really want the new 80 channel IC-440 replacement model but have told the release date has been put back from April to June and that June is not set in stone.
Now, I need a radio installed in the car before 1st July when I set off on my trip. IF the unit comes out in June i'll get one and no dramas, otherwise I need an alternative.
Im thinking I could put the IC-400Pro in the Din slot at the front of the cubby box, but how loud is the internal speaker - I suspect it will be muffled by the cubby-box mounting?? - Would it be heard in a Defender driving along corrugated roads? If so, guess Im sorted whatever happens in June!
I had thought about an external speaker but I really dont like the idea of that bacuse of the issues surrounding mounting it in an advantageous place. I also thought about linking the "external speaker out" to one of the auxillary "line in" on the car stereo, but then i couldnt have tunes on and keep an ear on the radio:p
I really want to keep with iCom because of the perceived reliability (I know others will disagree with this), but would look at the GMEs if needs be.
Thanks
Jon
