buying wheel speed sensors

Hi All
An intermittant signal from my front left wheel speed sensor is causing visits from the 3 A's. Guess I need to look at potentially replacing the sensor. Whats everyones experience about buying a sensor, quite a few on ebay from local and o/s from about $155 upwards. Best to get genuine LR? Some pics still show an in line connector--do some after market sensors still have them? Any advice appreciated.

IMO Genuine. Heard a few stories bout non genuine items. But to be fair I havent experienced Non Gen sensors.

I have had to replace one and liked the supply of the item with a plug to go back as original. Some of them now come with full length leads which need to be reconnected at the ECU. This eliminates the possiblity of poor connection at the plug, but makes for a bit more of a fiddle for you if doing it yourself.

Hi there, I had a similar problem like yours and bought 2 LR genuine front sensors. They are of a new design - you wire them up directly into the ABS module. No electrical plug in the engine bay area like the old design.

In my case the ABS signal was affected by a brake pad squeek (I was so unexperienced and bought RDA pads - BIG misstake). I actually replaced the pads for LR genuine ones and the ABS lights were gone. Was 2 years/40tkm back. Try to have a look at it before you get a new sensor... And also if there is a mechanical failure, you can measure resistance of the sensor.

Need to check sensor just doesn't need a clean & reseating first altho getting to it looks like a bit of heavy engineering to a DIY'er like me. I'll get back to you if someone hasn't taken them off your hands

About a year ago I bought a non LR RHF wheel sensor for $150 from Landranger spares here in SA. It was the same brand as the genuine thing (Wabco? or something) and less than half the price. It came with the normal plug and short lead. Plugged it in, got codes cleared and has been fine ever since.:)
When I tested each sensor's resistance with an ohm meter the faulty sensor gave intermittently fluctuating readings. I got the codes checked before buying a sensor to be sure though.;) I also had the shuttle valve code and did the re-wire for that at the same time.
