You were only doing 103kmh, hardly flying

My speed limiter has been removed courtesy of my BAS remap, still too scared to find out where it tops out now :o

Easy to do.

Where did you get the happy snap from Bob? ;)

As an aside I'm puzzled by the section of roof behind the alpine windows...it's not roof bars or rack at least at 200% magnification ....it looks like a safari roof or a pop up???

What a crock of **** ticket. Its a freeway, with barely any traffic, the limit should be 100 or 110 anyways. Grrrrrrr.

Nationally we should only have 3 speed limits 60 -80 -110. In Vic we have 40 in school zones, I think that is ok too for 90% of the schools, but some schools are in 80 and 100 zones and slowing to 40 is ridiculous there.

Having 40-50-60-70-80-90-100-110 is just stupid and revenue raising.

Yes unlucky the camera JUST got your plate, doh!!

Courtesy of the fines web site. You can type in your number plate plus the issue notice number and I actually got three photos.
Might I say I hope you don't have the opportunity of checking one for yourself? :D

130kph isn't exactly fun in a Puma, but it is legal in the NT and it does sit at that speed very easily.

So you have loops in each lane for speed plus the camera for the number plate.

Cool... I think.

not sure if you could use this as a get out of jail card
BUT
my fender's speedo is a good 5klm slower than the GPS. Here I am thinking i'm doing 110 and wondering why everyone is passing me.

Perhaps yours may be fast by 3klm. With a LR anything s possible.

I should have added my post that I had no idea that I wasn't in the 110km zone - probably that bloody white van blocked out the sign from the left. :angrylock: I wondered about fighting it but decided to move on.

Hi All
I would fight this infringement on the grounds, there is more than one vehicle in the photo.
The speed and position of the white van may have given the camera a false reading. Just who was speeding ?

Cheers Arthur

They can fly, just received similar photo. Not a very good photo, but they still want $200 for it. Must find a JP and sign it over to my lead footed wife who couldn't wait to get home from work.

I feel your pain...
Just received one in the mail.
Liverpool Rd NSW. Loaded trailer 2500Kg, travelling slow to be safe on damp road in traffic. Green turned amber just as I entered the intersection, couldn't clear the intersection in the 4 seconds of amber. FLASH! $330 thank you.
Jeez- welcome to NSW.

The only problem with that is,that there is no 110Kph westbound on the M4 prior to the 90KM speed camera. And to not see the big signs that tell you the camera is in front, you must have really had to be concentrating keeping the flying Puma on course:eek:.I see people zoom through that same camera every day.

I'd argue that one if its not too late its normally only if you enter the intersection after the red.

The speed limit changes from 110km/h to 100km/h west of the M7/M4 junction at least 10km before the change to 90km/h.

Could be worth fighting as there are two snaps taken I believe. If so, one can calculate your speed at the time.

My understanding of red light cameras is that once the light is red, anything crossing the last white line (before entering the intersection) will trigger the camera. I suggest the trailer axle triggered the camera and is worth getting the photo and fighting. As you've stated, wet road surface, travelling below speed, safer to proceed rather than risk sliding through intersection, jack-knifing trailer due to heavy braking, someone sliding up ya butt etc.

Worth finding out if camera was also a speed camera, this will prove your speed at the time.

Did think about that Ron, was doing about 30kmh.
BUT- travel back to Sydney, hire lawyer?, motel cost, maybe adjourned 2+motel cost, might lose - all those costs + fine +?.
They make paying the fine seem much easier. Fair play? whats that?

Had a look at the photos, pic1 attached, couldn't download pic2 for some reason, but just shows me a bit further into the poo.
Looks like it was the trailer that did it.

It looks like the lights were very amber when you went across - unless you were travelling at walking pace. The red had been lit for 1 sec and amber for 4 secs.

You know how long the wheelbase of the 110/trailer combination is so from this pic and the next pic and using the painted lines, you could possibly work out your speed.

It is definitely worth challenging it if it your first offence and you detail what happened. NSW will cancel fines in some circumstances. Of course, if you have already paid it you probably won't get a refund.

BTW, which numberplate did they read?

Yeah, but it probably cost him more :) Reminds me; for those old enough to remember Telly Savalas, the bald actor who did the detective show Kojak back in the 70's when colour TVs first came in. A white bloke goes into the barber and says I want a Telly savalas haircut. Barber cuts his hair and says that'll be 3 bucks (cheaper back then) and a black fella is sitting waiting and when its his turn he says I'll also have a Telly Savalas haircut and the barber says that'll be 6 bucks. What? says the black fella, you only charged him 3 bucks. Yeah, says the barber but colour tellys cost more
b - boom. Terrible eh? But I bet one of you old farts (like me) tells it somewhere, sometime :)

Hi Ron,
Seems I can ask for leniency - ie admit guilt and ask to be let off. I have to amongst other things provide evidence of no infringements for the last 10 years.
And guess what - Vicroads will only provide information for 5 years!

It was the trailer reg they used, I hired a trailer in Cooma.
I dropped speed to probably 15-20kmh before the intersection because I missed a gearghange, then started to accelerate cos I could see the green, but the poor V8 was struggling to get moving after that. I reckon I would have got up to 30kmh, but speed isn't the issue anyway, I was just seen to be in the intersection moving against a red light.
If I lived in NSW I would probably have a go but I am not driving back for the risk and expense of losing the case.

Any way I don't have a blemish free record, I have had 2 speed fines in the last 6 years. Well it is a V8:twisted:.
Cheers,
Terry

Talk to Scott Cooper 0419 536 975 at Speeding Fine Consultants if you are not sure, he is right up on devices and legislation, the police hate him because he gets them on their lazyness and dodgy practices.
He has helped me out a couple of times, I got onto him after watching a doco on him..

I can't see any possible way of you getting out of this one. It's an offense to even enter an intersection on green if you're not able to clear it in time. They will just argue that you should have taken the extra length into account when deciding to proceed.

Uuuuuuusually the sensor pads are placed after the last white line - defining the intersection. In that photo the 110 would have triggered the camera whilst a red light was illuminated. Also, the regulations state you must stop before a stop line at a yellow (amber) light unless it is not safe to do so. I know trailers don't help but I think it would be an uphill battle defending this one...

Matt.

PS - the penalty for not stopping at a yellow light is the same as a red one - $344 and 3 points.

There are sensor pads fitted in each lane to determine which vehicle is exceeding the speed limit, thereby negating that argument. These ones (fixed speed cameras) are not radar or lidar based, its the physical movement of an object over the sensor to prevent confusion and allowing each lane to be monitored.

Bugger.

Matt.

PS - Scott Cameron has been successful against man-operated speed detection devices because he has found errors in operation or breaches of operating guidelines - which is good - just not errors in the accuracy of the device. At the end of the day he's not a Solicitor so can't represent you, just offer advice, and in the case of fixed speed cameras has not been successful despite what he claims. I'm no fan of fixed speed cameras by any means, nor a fan of some bloke making claims and taking money from people about to lose their licence/job etc. But, see what he has to say.....

Yes I am going to give in quietly on this one, accept that you can still be fined when trying to do the right thing.
It just annoys me that when govt. fines are involved it is very hard to argue innocence or unusual circumstances, but very easy to just pay up and go away.

By brother drives a fuel tanker semi in Melb. and he says the mindless camera enforcement is a daily problem for him. He always slows and stops if he thinks the green may go to amber, causes a lot of agro behind him but it's just not worth his licence and job.

I'm always looking ahead at the upcoming lights. If they have been green for a while, one can expect them to change as one gets close.

I am pleasantly surprised when they stay green.

Yep, and I'm certain they have designed it that way - you wrap people up in process and paperwork and they'll soon give up that fight and go back to living their life...

Yep. My local council has a free full-sized shuttle bus. It doesn't go anywhere useful so is usually empty.

After a few months the council will be able to report it was under-utilised and therefore they can scrap it.

As Nepean Hospital car parking costs $6 a time and the car parks are always full with queues out onto the surrounding streets, it would be nice to be able to board a free bus from one of the shopping centres and be taken to the hospital. But no, that is to sensible for Penrith Council.
