my 98 1.8ltr manual freelander XEI 4 dr has died AGAIN

last time it was the rotor button and cap which were ttoally worn out.

these have been replaced with brand new items. but now the rotten thing has died again.

I returned from a short trip three nights ago without incident, shut the car off and locked it for the night.

it sat for two days , I went out to drive it again and it refuses now to start. it winds over, the fuel pump can be heard kicking in, its got heaps of fuel.. but refuses to fire or even cough.

ive checked every fuse (literally). all the connections and plugs I can find but it still wont fire.

anyone got any suggestions before I tow it to the garage?

its going to be sold this time when its going again.. ive had enough of the lemon.

Make sure its got spark to the distributor and from the distributor, It may of failed the rotor button again.
The spark plug leads may of been the original cause of the rotor button failure originally. When the get a high resistance the rotor button fails quickly.

had the cap and button off it today both "look" fine and in new condition.. cleaned them to make sure they hadnt got damp or something stupid.

any checks i make ive got to do on my own as I have no one to help me.

looks like its going to the garage.

if you have a volt meter check the coil that might have died. if the coil is dead so is the car. Try that....

turned out to be themain coil lead being dead... which iove never had happen in nearly 20 years of car ownership...

however since replacing that its died AGAIN... and its not the coil lead or rotor button this time.
