Superlock mode

Was out very early yesterday morning taking some pics. No2 son (14yo) decided he wanted to stay in the car so, unbeknown to me, SWMBO left him there and locked the doors with the remote.

An hour later she notices him banging on the window, pretending to gasp, etc.

What happened was SWMBO superlocked the car which disables the internal door handles, sets the alarm, etc.

Now having read the manual I realise that what she should have done was double clicked the remote to lock the car, not one click to superlock it.

Something to keep in mind.

With the kid jumping around inside the sensors should have picked it up and set the alarm off - if I leave my doggie in there and superlocked the alarm goes off about 3 minutes after it is armed.

That was always a fun trick when the Commodores first came out with that on the VT. Deadlock the car with your offsider still in it. They had manual windows so they had to climb out that way. Could do it with the key in the VS too :-)

Just a quick note that for D4 owners, one click is "normal" lock and the 2nd click is the one that activates the deadlock + alarm mode.

So the D4 has a alarm?

I've locked my dogs in the car several times whilst running in the shops or filling up and have never had the alarm go off. I always double lock the doors. I'm going to test this out today

Scouse or Stig will know if this is a feature that is enabled on the
Oz import . This was not functioning on Oz D3

I tried out the superlock function this weekend and I do not seem to have it on my 2005 LR3. Also I was not able to lock myself in either. I did leave the drivers side window rolled down and I was sitting in the drivers seat but I did open and close the door prior to locking to simulate myself getting out.

I also wonder if superlock is one of the enable and disable functions via the T4?

The owners manual suggests superlock is installed, but for me, I would say not.

Superlock oops!

Just thought others might benefit from our recent experience with the new Range Rover Sport and superlock function.

My wife returned to the car with the shopping, unlocked the boot from the key fob, loaded the groceries in the boot, unlocked the car with a single press of the key fob, got in the passenger side front door, and inadvertently must have bumped the key fob lock. I think she must have got into the car before the boot fully closed as well.


The outcome was a super locked front passenger door, that could not be opened from the inside or the outside. She ended up climbing over the centre console and out thru the back door. Rather inelegant in a new RRS I must say. All other doors normal.

So not knowing what was going on we called LRA roadside assist a number of times they put us onto the local dealer, the solution was to flatbed the car to the nearest dealer for a hard reset!

After reading the forums and manuals for the. RRS I thought the best thing to try was to try a full car superlock again. So I made sure all the doors were closed and windows locked, and bonnet closed boot closed etc. Must admit some nervousness as I pressed that button, hoping it would not make everything misbehave. Pressed the key fob twice within 3 seconds, the car beeped, indicators flashed twice etc, just as it should. Then pressed unlock and voila, everything back to normal. What a relief!

So there you go, simple really wasn't it! As they say in the classics "elementary".
