g'day all, having a ball with the disco,(2003 D2 V8) all in the first month of ownership, sydney and back to rochester vic averaged about 14L/100K 4 adults and heaps of luggage since then added racks and a basket loaded the 4 kids, me and the boss headed north 2000Km averaging about 15.4L very happy with the load on board. So the suspension has decided to play up so had to get airbags done(left the tools at home, had no plans for offroad this trip) so had to pay, bit of a pain getting the job done on short notice, will pack tools next time . Anyway reason for my brief is the factory DVD does not operate once motor is running is this usual? 4 kids would love to watch a dvd or 2 on a few of the longer drives, wireless headphones are great but whats the point if cant use when disco is running? any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated thanks..................happy travels

so it has power when the car is switched off? X 2......I had problems with mine when I got it...ended up sending it back to the manufacturer to be fixed. I would check the points.....could also be a blown fuse,

You may need to have the wiring "modified" so it comes on when driving.
Does it by any chance come on with the handbrake on?
Think they are supposed to be wired that they only come on inf the handbrake is on (ie, parked)?
Assuming your DVD player is "in dash", as opposed to the rear headrest types that is? If they are the latter, please ignore my post! :p
I was told this when having my after market one installed. Cost me nothing more when installing, was just told the legalities.
It's a safety/legality thing to do with not being able to watch videos whilst driving.
Its a starting point anyway.....!!

I appreciate this is the WA regulation, but I'd be pretty sure you'd have something similar in your area.

it is actually a factory fitted roof mounted dvd unit with the screen roof mounted and the player under the passenger seat. As soon as the ignition is turned to start the unit turns off. if just turn to accessories works fine, cant start unit again once vehicle is running
