View Full Version : hot water/ shower in D4 V8

Stupidly I left my Helton heat exchange in my D1 when I sold. dumbdumbdumb. The guy who bought it couldn't of cared less about a having a beer under a hot shower in the scrub.
I now want to fit one to the D4. Erm.........under which bit of plastic are the heater hoses. :confused::confused::confused:
Anyone found a cosey spot to fit one in a V8? Series or Parallel???
I fitted the one in the D1 in parallel on Heltons advice. It never got hot enough so always had to pinch off the hose to the fire wall with vice grips (could have put some taps in I guess) because the water flow through the car interior heater could not actually be turned off. Does anyone know what the situation is with the D4 climate control. If it is turned off in the cab is there a valve that stops the hot water flow???

Is there an advantage of an in car system versus one of the Hot Water onDemand units such as the Coleman? I have one of these on my shopping list but haven't done any research yet. To me it would seem better to not modify the vehcile when such a simple self contained soluton is available.

You don't need to find a place to pack it and you never forget it. :)

I know this may sound a bit anal ... but in the past I've always used a "checklist" of important items for camping which I stuck to the steering wheel and ticked each item off as it was loaded - and then did a final check of the list before we backed out of our driveway ... saved us a few times I can tell you !!! (you know the conversation - I thought you packed that!!!) It's one way to take some of the hassles out of a camping trip.

I just put up a couple of days ago a brand new never used still in the box Coleman HWS for sale in the Camping area in the markets section Paul if your considering one of these units.

As I purchased an off road caravan with its own HWS before actually taking delivery of the Colman it has just sat in the box.
