Saw this on the carsales site:

May be we will get cheap Defender when the Army replacing all their Landrover with Mercedes Benz G-Wagens.

Gwagen is not replacing the landrover at this stage...
its only replacing the domestic stock for day to day running units... its a complicated story but the gwagen is only part of the stage 1 deal and theres 2 stages to go, the Gwagen is allegedly ONLY for domestic use.
I got very up close and personal with one today...
there were lots and lots of WTF and are you seriouses uttered. But they are in some aspects better than what the people who laid out the initial blurb to us gave us for info.
already earmarked for the drivers course and the maintainers course.
you'd expect them to come FF/NOM, but no, they come RU/X and the warn winch that we have to bolt onto the front is essentially useless if you get one stuck and it seems to be the solution is to supply a snatch block as part of the CES.
And they havent even got past train the trainer yet.
