You won't beleive it...I sure as hell didn't...parked the girl at the airport, won't say which regional airport it was, but sounds like Karratha... for 3 nights while on business in Perth.
Get back, put the bag in the back and bugger me, some sainted w@nk has decided he needs my tow tongue and ball more then me...at the bloody airport???
Anyhooo...a genuine bit from Barbegellos is $279.00, which is probably reasonable.
I like to keep everything as original as practicle, so was curious as to where and what price is best WA location to get a genuine replacemet?
Cheers

I drilled the pin out of the bolt that holds the tongue and put a small lockwood padlock onto it. Because low lifes also steal them at boat ramps.

No it is not.
Why not go to any caravan/trailer shop and get a rated tongue and ball. About $100 all up. I have one on my RRS.

Back when I bought my D2a, I thought the OE tongue hung too low and was too expensive, so I went down to my local towbar shop (opposite lock as it happened) and we went though their catalog to pick a tongue with the right drop/length etc. From memory it was for a Jackaroo. Was a lot cheaper than a OE tongue.

I've got one in the shed that came with my silver D2,, got a land Rover tag riveted to it and all,,
but it has a 4 inch drop,,
what on earth could you tow with that?? is there a D2 "accessory" trailer that has 12" wheels??:p Or did the factory expect lots of customers to raise their D2 by 4" and then buy a genuine tongue??:Rolling:

Have a hunt around the wreckers, you may pick up a genuine tounge.
I like the idea of keeping it all genuine when you can (per your first post):)
I wouldn't have expected a L/Rover one to go on it's own holliday.
The plate would stand out when it's on the back of a Nissota;)
But they heve to start somwhere:cool:

Genuine from Triumphroverspares will be a lot cheaper than $100.00
Or Titan make some great alloy versions:

And Alloy Stingers in 3 heights (load rating varies with height so best to check site for details)

Damn thieves, I would get a locking hitch pin if I were you. Around $25. Or as mentioned earlier drill out the hole and use a small padlock....
I want a system when I lock the car it electrifies the whole thing, if anyone touches it then they get a nice big zap.

I would consider using the padlock idea over a locking pin, a mate of mine had a locking pin on his work truck and lost the keys for the pin, he wanted to change the hitch from ball to ring pull and had a hell of a time removing the locking pin.

I use a tongue from a AU/EA falcon alloy tray ute. Reason being is it has the rating and it's quite long, long enough to pass beyond the bar on the D2, also without the massive drop. From wreckers for $50-.
Do love the alloy stuff though.

You need to keep the tongue as SHORT as physically possible,,,,
The d2 hitch is already 8" further behind the back axle than the D1,,

Why not just leave it off, if you don't use it often.
Mine lives in the shed. I have a nice LR plastic insert in its place.
They reduce your departure angle anyway.;)

Yep, I have one of those inserts, and only a week B4 considered...why not stick the insert in and put the tongue away...but... should have, would have, could have, didn't...:(

Ring Parkside Towbars in Welshpool. New insert 50mm drop with a 50mm ball for about $80 IIRC.
