Hi everyone. Six months in to my Discovery experience and loving every minute of it. Even some sceptical mates have fallen in love with her and cant explain why.
However, she is currently stuck on the bootom floor of a 5 floor basement carpark with a remote that refueses to work after a new battery was installed. I have had a close inspection of the terminal points to see if thats the issues but all seems alright. I do have my EKA but not my original handbook so i dont know what the sequence and tricks should be. I have found one sequence in a thread here and tried it but to no avail. Can anyone shed any light on other sequences for EKA apart from turn clockwise, wait five seconds and then do the EKA part?
I'm desperate to get it going as taking the kids away Monday so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Damo.

Insert key in drivers door lock.
Turn key to unlock required times for first digit (3 would be 3 times)
Key to lock required times for next digit.
Unlock again.
Lock again.

Then finally unlock again once to unlock car and it should disable immobiliser.

so say your EKA is 4567 it would be:

<<<< >>>>> <<<<<< >>>>>>> <

Oh, and if you mess up it will beep.
If it beeps, hold key locked for more than 5 secs then start again.

Thanks. I have been turning it to lock for five seconds first so that may be putting it one turn out. also the lock is pretty worn so maybe now im a little less frustrated i may be able to get it. Steady, slowly and breathe.....
Thanks heaps for the reply.

This happened to me, I found I had to have very deliberate movements when returning key to 12 o clock position every time for it to work.

Well, EKA didnt work but manipulated the remote a bit a got it to work....three times. Now it wont work again no matter what, guessing the remote is totally stuffed now. It is however now stuck in my driveway which is much more desireable than 5 stories below ground.
For the EKA i am turning to lock for over five seconds (it beeps at me occasionally when i do this) then go through unlock for first number, lock for second, unlock for third and lock for forth. Then open and no joy, still little red flashing car. Any ideas? I can hear the clicks in the lock, does this make any difference?
Also can it be started by shorting the starter motor once the key is on? I guess this would defeat the purpose of having an immobiliser in the frist place though!!

Find the the theft alarm unit, 12 pin plug (C274) "behind the RH fascia" according to RAVE. The non anti-theft model has a jumper plug from pin 10 to pin 11 to bypass the alarm circuit for the starter motor. The fuel shut-off can be hotwired from the ignition or from the satellite fuse box 1, fuse 3. It can also be enabled by removing the alarm spider (behind the centre of the dash) and shorting pins 8 and 4 of this plug. (C2095)

I strongly advise you having a copy of RAVE on hand to disable the anti-theft but it should be quite easy. When you have fixed the alarm systems they are easy to plug back in.

After reading this, is it better to perhaps remove the OEM Security sys and install an aftermarket one?

Yes well i think worn locks after 330,000km are preventing me getting the EKA working. And the ignition barrell is pretty well useless, the central locking doesnt work, the ignition key doesnt unlock the car and the door key wont work in the ignition, the remote is broken.
So im thinking ditch the ignition barrell altogether, insert a START button, aftermarket immobiliser and new central locking. Fix all the springs in the locks, give the windows some lube while im at it all all will be sweet.
Well, once i get it going again all will be sweet.....:D
Thanks to everyone for your advice, but i think its a lost cause for tomorrows trip. Have borrowed a mates car and will look at the poor old girl when i get back.
Have a great Easter everyone, be safe on the roads.

This reads as you're turning the lock and holding for 5 seconds in the lock position.

As I understand it you need to (read as locking is turning CCW from 12) "lock" it 5 times for first no 5. So turn from 12 to 9 and return to 12 5 times. Then for the second number turn CW the required number of times (turn from 12 (the position of the key after the last turn back to 12) to 3). Then repeat first sequence but for third number and repeat second sequence but for fourth number.

This could explain the beeping and no result. Unless I'm reading wrong.

Im holding it on lock for five seconds before starting the sequence. I read this as how to start in the instructions. Still no joy.
However, did go and see local auto electrical guy and he will install new remote, immobiliser and a start button for about $350. Compared to the prices being quoted for an original remote this seems like a pretty good deal to me. Its booked in for Wednesday, providing i can get it started to get it the two blockes to the workshop.

She's alive! After much help from you guys and a few hours on the net i have now successfully hot wired the old girl. Thanks very much everyone.
In the end i looked at the dash for about three minutes and decided it was too hard to remove the spider to fix it, and opted to bypass the immobiliser. A whole new keyless ignition, central locking and immobiliser, aftermarket, will be going in on Wednesday so no need to fix the spider anyway.
I ran a wire from the starter solenoid to the ignition and put a push button in the line. I also ran a wire from the fuel solenoid to the ignition. I tried the starter motor first to see if it would turn over before i connected the fuel soleniod, and it started!!! No fuel solenoid wire required....????
So now it still needs the key in the ignition on position but you push a button to start instead of turn the key more to start it. Works a treat. And all for about $15.
Once again thanks to eveyone. Hope you all have a happy and safe Easter.
