View Full Version : LPG running like it's missing after engine work.

I just replaced the rocker covers gaskets on the D2, with sequential gas injection.
I have a problem now that it seems to miss when accelerating.
not noticable on petrol but on gas you noticed a bit of a miss.
I reckon it might be either moisture on the coil pack, as I did degrease and hose the engine after wards, or I have damaged a plug lead during the wrestle in the confined space with all the gas gear.
so will have to investigate further, maybe a night time sortie to see if there is any arcing, spray of water mist to hi light maybe ?

if its just when accelerating, it could be the advance/timing is slightly out?

If you can get your fingers down there, press hard on all the lead connectors. The miss may be due to moisture and dry out of course. I would also check the plug gaps, 0.6 to 0.7mm max. The voltage to fire the gas/air mixture is still higher than on petrol, regardless of injection system. The smaller gap allows the coil pack to function within its manufacturing limits of operating voltages.

D2, coil packs, no adjustment available!;););)

Bee utey,
there are 2 black cylinders( Filters maybe?) on my system, after those back cylinders is the t piece that the gas temp sensor fits into.
there is a kink in the short gas hoses, could this restriction do much ?
It's just a tight squeeze in the component set up. If I was to make it longer then no doubt I would have to get some gas hose.

As the gas pressure take off is at the end of the furthest point on the injector hoses I can't see there being a problem. If the pressure were to drop below the gas computer's operating range it would just drop out and run on petrol.
If you want some new filters and some spare hose (I usually have some left over after each install) just email me.

I pulled off the plenum again and found one of the gas injector wires was not plugged in, so in reality it was running on 7 cycl on gas,, but trying to find where the connector was hiding was another episode.
Seems the installers had mile and miles of spare harness length so folded it into loops and stuffed some conviluted tubing over it.
I didn't like the way the heater hoses were fitted also crossing the engine, and the IAC piping left to flap ontop of the plennum, so I made a clamp to reuse the existing bolt holes from the IAC clamp. which is not there either.
