They arrived today in excellent condition.

They appear to be of good quality and weigh the same as my other door tops sans glass.

They arrived with a thick even coat of grey primer- don't know it it has been etch-primed or not.

So all-in-all a great item at a good price deliver promptly.
Total delivered cost: $129

LAND ROVER SERIES 2 3 DOOR TOP FRAME PAIR *NEW* (eBay item 300552361231 end time 10-May-11 02:22:18 AEST) : eBay Motors (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300552361231&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

Just found the same seller selling the same ones again (the other lot was closed down) and for some reason the price is different (slightly higher unless the exchange rate has gone up and down)

I just bought a pair - should work out half as cheap as the oz sellers (cheapest I found here was $135 each inc cheap channels which are supposedly not good quality compared to the ones from a motor trimmer, these work out around that same cost for the pair so unless channels are disgustingly expensive it should be better)

So for those who bought them are they ok? Anything to add to the previous comments?

Some days I just don't understand.

This eBay Australia Item Bid History (http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=170635090088&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:BIDN) has just gone for $115 + $27.95 postage i.e. more for one frame than the UK mob are asking for two.

Why is this so?

I don't get it either.

The one you refer to looks the same as the pairs on the UK ebay that I bought. Good profit margin if they paid $140 for 2!

Mine have been posted according to the seller so hopefully they will come in a couple of weeks. Just need to buy some channels and find a spare few hours to prep, paint, swap windows over and fit them. I'll be treating them inside for rust first, hopefully they will last better than the originals.

For my series 3 I paid 19 pounds each + delivery without glass and they were delivered within the week for around $60.00 total...baily chanels were around 2 pounds each:)

We priced baily channel from clark rubber around $8.00 per metre it is a heavy plastic not metal which would not rust;)

Was this a long time ago or on sale though? I think given the $100+ each they sell for in Australia, if I could bring in pairs for $60 I'd be importing them all day long and sell them on ebay for a tidy sum!

With the bailey channel from Clarks, did you actually use it on a series door top and did it work adequately? Given that it isn't rigid like the original, I'd be worried it wouldn't hold the glass in at the top and side. Maybe installing it in alloy chaneling like the original might work?

Just looked it up.... door tops 1958-1984 20.75 pounds each no glass:) so have gone up in price since I bought them.

We got a sample of the bailey channel and it seems it would hold adequately, though you would maybe have glue it in.

Which UK supplier has them for this? I looked at a few and on google and couldn't find any that cheap. And are they any good quality wise?

Land Rover Parts and Range Rover Parts - The Worlds Largest Supplier (http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/)

We bought a lot of things from them for the series 3 and had no problems with the service or delivery;)

The quality of everything is very good:)

My door tops arrived yesterday and they fit perfectly :D

The welding on them is superb and everything about them seems fine; especially the price of $148 landed at my door for the pair!

I had intended to make my own but buying the steel and paying for access to a guillotine and bender would have cost me more!

Highly recommended - thanks Peter for this extremely useful tip :D

Cheers Charlie

Good to know they are good quality. I am waiting for mine to arrive. How long did yours take to get here? Mine cost $151! Exchange rates!!!I have another parcel coming of some other bits which was dispatched from the UK on Friday and has arrived in australia and cleared customs yesterday. Pretty quick for $16 postage when it costs twice that to post from Brisbane to Perth and takes a week or more.

What did you buy, and where from, that only cost $16 in postage?

Bought an assortment of S3 stuff from the UK from an ebay seller of landy bits. Full set of replacement lenses, full set pedal rubbers, full set lever gaiters, reverse switch, set of suspension bushes, hub nut spanner, and a gearbox mounting. About 3.5kg all up and only 11 pounds to send it, not bad when its here in less than a week.
