Hi Guys

does anyone know whatsize clutch plate I would need for our series 2a with the 4cyl petrol and I think a suffix B box????

is it 9.5 or a 9 clutch plate?

I was looking at getting this so we can get the gearbox back in

LAND ROVER SERIES 2 AND 3 CLUTCH PLATE 9 1/2' | eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-2-AND-3-CLUTCH-PLATE-9-1-2-/310297680149?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item483f2ed915)

Either one should fit with some modifications.

G'day Dullbird :)

The series 1/2/2a take a 9 inch clutch plate with 3 finger coil spring pressure plate, the 9 1/2 inch plate mates with the diaphragm type pressure plate which needs to be the one with the spacer block built into it, as the driven and pressure plates were designed for the later Series 3 model which had different clutch operating mechanism which was the fork type.

Clutch driven plate 9" is R504519 genuine P/n

Clutch cover plate 9" 3 finger type is R231888 genuine P/n

cheers

It would originally have had a 9" clutch - what it has now is anyone's guess - disassemble it before ordering parts, or you can fit either as a set. (but note the 9.5" diaphragm clutch pressure plate for the 2a is a special plate with a built in spacer, and is not the same as the S3 one, although the driven plate is the same.

Thanks guys we have the clutch on the floor in the garage so we will look at it and measure it tomorrow.

I don't really want to modify anything. I just want to be able to buy and fit. we will never get the car back together if that's the case.:D

IRC the mods are just moving a couple of dowels on the flywheel. If you are replacing both the clutch and pressure plate it makes sense to go 9.5"

well no need to worry...box sitting on the side when I got home. Ian had ordered a clutch from the UK without telling me. :lol2:
