Old technology conversion

My Landie has a 350 Chev that I had converted some time ago to LPG. The converter put in a pull cable for running on petrol & ,to be honest, I forgot all about it. Pretty hard as its in the bloody way for the ignition keys:mad:. I really don't use petrol much, but now that I use the cable I can't tell any difference. I remember them on Kingswood Taxi's in the '70's.
What does it actually do?

The cable fits to an Impco 300A mixer and lifts the whole mixer diaphragm assembly up. It helps petrol operation on carbies with external vents/air leaks. it is a hangover from pre-pollution days in the 60's. Some Holleys in particular hate any restriction on them during petrol operation. Most 300A installs fitted since the 70's use an electric/vacuum valve to lift the diaphragm at idle and this is enough for most modern Holleys. So if you don't need it count yourself fortunate. Just keep it for the day your carby dries out and leaks air through the gaskets.

It's a Rochester Quadrajet, but that probably is the same principle..
I try to run it on petrol frequently, but when you only drive it 10-12 times a year:(- its not so easy.
