110 tail gate

i bought a landrover 110 ute not long agoand it did not come with a tail gate.
does any 1 know where i could get 1 or how i could make one?(apart from the reckers because there probbly wont be one in alice) any help/links/advice would be grate. also i would prefer a swing away dor rather than fold down but dont mind that much if swing away will not work.

Since you have a standard tub then a series II/III tailgate will fit.

If you want a swing open type, then you will need to make it, or modify a standard tailgate. The easiest way would be to weld up an RHS frame with a lip welded on to sit against the seal. Then pop rivet an aluminium sheet to the frame.

Hinges - either use 110 wagon hinges (x2) or any others that will fit.

My preference would be to make one and also incorporate a spare wheel carrier (and beefed up hinges).

thanks the tub was off a wagan and i think it has hinges on the side of it. it is the same size as a 110 back dor. do you think it will have enough strength to hold a spare wheel.

It can't be from a wagon (5 door), but may be from a "hardtop" which are 3-door.

The door/tailgate openings are all the same size - from 1958-2004 at least (and maybe also 2004-current).

yeah 3-door i might have to have a look around and see if i can find how much they are if not will make one.
