The County is going in to have a small 20 cent piece of rust in the Passenger footwell cut out and repaired and also a little rust cut out of the rear cross member.

At initial inspection, that is about all I can find.

The rust repairer is not a Landy fan or expert but loves rust and getting rid of it.

Where else should we be looking?

The firewall all seems okay and the chassis rails all seem okay too!

Pull all the door trims off and check the door frames - both at the bottom and higher up.

Dumb irons behind the bumper/bullbar are also a typical area. (will need to remove bumper/bullbar).

The rail/sill connecting the B and C pillars.

Also check where the a-frame crossmember connects to the chassis (stick your fingers in between the bracing (it usually fills up with sand/mud there).

My '86 has rust in the C pillar near the ally floor panel.
check above and below the floor.

Also where the rear spring hanger attached the the chassis. and all outriggers.

good luck. hope its not as bad as mine

While you're down there......:D

have a look for cracks in the chassis and body mounting brackets. I've seen cracks at points where both crossmembers and outriggers attach to the main rails.

Another hidden rust spot is in the removable gearbox crossmember and the area of the main chassis rails that it covers. You need to unbolt and remove it to see whether there is corrosion. It's only 8 bolts but it can be a pain to remove and you often have to spread the rails slightly (use a couple of blocks of wood & a hydraulic jack, or a high lift, etc).
