View Full Version : ROVERPARTS - Rant... Annoying!

Well, I thought I'd save myself a few bucks, probably about $10, and order a new serpentine belt through ROVERPARTS instead of through the dealership.

I bypassed their homepage by googling the part number and entering into the product directly, adding to the cart, paying for it and then WHAM!

I receive a message that roverparts is closed, will not reopen until the 9th of May and will begin processing orders then.

Annoying! Who wants to wait two weeks for spare parts? I guess the extra cost of going to the dealership includes the convenience of picking it up over the counter right then and there.

This is the first time I've used their site and it's things like this that annoy me and will sway my decision as to whether I ever use them again.

there there Sully ;) !!! kinda agree.

I borrowed a chainsaw today and spent 1 1/2 hrs "fixing" the dam thing before I ran out of light, that was annoying too. My new runners are crap, I thought I'd save a few bucks but they have no reflex in the heel. I lost my new mobile phone yesterday when I left in on the rear bumper and drove off to the tip with the trailer, GONE! Now I only have 1 beer in the fridge.

Don't blame Roverparts. It says they'll be closed in big letters on their homepage.

It's probably a small business and he's taken holidays which cut across Easter.

Funny how in this day and age, we expect everyone to be reachable 24/7.
Many friends are real estate agents and people do expect them to be available all the time. The get calls at 11.00pm because someone found something late one night.
Its ridiculas, people need time out and if it means shut the shop for 2 weeks well thats what it will take.

Annoying sure! but reasonable for sure.

while it is annoying, you could have called them to confirm the order, before paying for it

I see only one issue in this rant. Can you pick it? Clue, has nothing to do with saws, runners, phones.

Nope. I'm a wine drinker so there are no issues mentioned.

EXACTLY the same has happened to me!!LOL
I went in through Google, paid by credit card and was only taken back to the home page at the end.
No worries, I can wait. The only thing I am a little peeved about is that they didn't flag it at checkout and maybe my card has been debited.

It is only 2 alternator belts as spares, but now I have to remember to follow them up if they don't arrive.

Never lend your chainsaw or your wife, cause there is a good chance.......

She might see your chainsaw in another blokes hands and realise that size is really relative and a small chainsaw in a big man's hands looks a lot smaller than a small chainsaw in a small man's hands.

Or just don't lend your gear to blokes bigger than yourself.

Ha! This has turned into a funny rant thread. Nice one lads.

I understand they are on holidays and deserve it, being hard workers and all that. Annoyance has now turned into mildly peeved, closely followed by acceptance, which will then turn into "hurry up!!".

I was just put out that I could have had one sooner if I'd been alerted at checkout, given that I didn't go in through the homepage.

Anyway, let the ranting continue! We all love a good rant.

My holy trinity is never lend cars, girlfriends or tools.

Though when your car is a Land Rover, it's pretty much a certainty it'll come back ****ed:D

But thats ok çause it probably left with issues anyway. The secret is to have the borrower think they caused it, fix it while they have it, and then it comes back with new faults to keep you occupied searching for.

Time for my rant.

People often whine these days how stupid people have become, that we are becoming a nanny state and we need to wrap the society at large up in cotton wool. We need to put signs up everywhere. We need to tape off and fence everything to protect us from ourselves. Why, because even though the people involved admit they are at fault, they still want to lay the blame at other people's feet.
So next time you are shaking your head at some new stupid thing that has been implemented and ask yourself just who is this meant for. Have a look in the mirror my friend. In this case YOU are the lowest common denominator.:p

Good rant.

Being a "Professional Idiot since 1975", it sounds as though you know what you're talking about.

I would like to point out that I believe people are becoming stupider, not that it's their fault though. Technology, media, lifestyle, improved urban planning.... These things all add up to people becoming more lazy than they may have been in the past.

It's probably fair to say that the people who are smartest in this world are doing their best to assist the general masses in becoming drones.
