Has any one changed the bearing on a 95 P38 belt tensioner?

I am in the middle of doing a water pump replacement and notice that the tensioner has a squeal when turned by hand.
It is running smoothly and true she just sounds dry.

No, you can't. The bearing is moulded into the pulley. I removed the shields, cleaned the bearing out, and regreased mine (then refitted the shields).

I tried to lift the bearing shields and they are as brittle as.
So i picked a small whole in one side and used a syringe to pump some grease in.
It runs nice an quiet and smooth again, but i would still like to see a new bearing in there.
What a daft design.
Can you buy just the pulley or do we have to buy the whole tensioner as an assembly?

Any thoughts Ron?

The last time I checked (two years ago) you couldn't get the pulley separately in Oz (from Dayco). See the other thread for a part no. and order it from Amazon.

Replaced mine in January. Ron is correct, you can't buy the wheel on its own, you have to get the whole spring loaded arm. Got mine from the wreckers, as a new one was quite expensive. Greased it up and put it in.

If you have good contacts in the states, they are fairly cheap!

double check but I think that's the right one.
