Yes, but you need to machine the boss to accept the indicator canceller

Standard Defender steering wheels are the best I reckon.

You're right Vlad, they are and I love em.
Only problem is that I have just had Subaru Impreza bucket seats fitted (and getting engineered ) and as they are a little higher in the seat squab it doesn't leave much room below the wheel.
When sitting it's fine but given the high edges on the sqaub (that hold you really well) getting in and out can be a bit of a squeeze.
A smaller wheel might just give that 1-2" extra clearance under and give some elbow swinging room also?

I got a moto-lita wheel from Mudstuff when I added seat rails and lost some clearance (I am 6'1") and love it. Bit expensive (at just over £200 with boss) but the Aussie dollar is not too bad so that eases the pain. They are very good quality and the leather rim has a nice feel.

Thanks Mike but I am probably going to pay $ 20 for this one off a 76 Rangie that's being wrecked.
I can then probably give it to my mate to run through the lathe at his machine shop.
Hey Vern , is that what you're saying.
Take off the existing wheel , remove the indicator canceller , give both bits to my mate and say please machine the outside of that boss down to accept that cancelling mechanism?

I like the look of the wood rimmed wheel, maybe too good for the Series III though.

I like the woodies also but as said , hopefully the Momo will be bargain basement $
I did just go up the shed and find him an old rangie one to replace it

I was interested in getting a Moto-Lita for my Defender, but I did a bit of digging and discovered that steering wheels are an ADR item. The Moto-Lita ones haven't been ADR approved, so it would be tempting fate with one's roadworthy and insurance status to fit one.
Bugger!!
Cheers,

There's some old threads on here about fitting some aftermarket wheels.
Defennder200Tdi fitted an Isotta wheel and boss. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/21508-steering-wheels.html
and piccies in this thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/24482-wtb-2000-defender-extreme-steering-wheel-boss-kit.html

Some say he can post on AULRO without an internet connection.
Some say when he speaks at the end of each sentence he says 'submit'.
Some say he shamelessly steals siglines from other forums.
All we know is - he's The Vlad.
VERY GOOD VLAD, RATHER WITTY :)

Agreed. They are perfect for that car. Mine is sun damaged at the top and is quite perished. While it gives me the irrits, it is perfectly functional. I'd get a new one if they weren't so exxy for a pure indulgence.
