As the title says, I'd like a copy of the engine manual for a 186 motor with tuning specs, or a link where one can be downloaded. As a large number of Land Rovers have 186s, someone must have a digital copy somewhere, maybe it can be uploaded as a link on the forum like the rover manuals.

Do you just want the tuning specs? I might have a manual in the garage.

If you cant find an electronic one try the op-shops.
Some of the local op-shops over our way have old workshop manuals for a couple of dollars.
Might have to think of what they where fitted in, Torana/kingswood/...

That was mostly what I wanted it for, I have a series 3 manual and wanted the tuning info like idle speed, timing and dwell settings, plug gaps, the usual stuff you need for a full tune up. Adjusting the mixture for the correct power and economy etc etc.
The motor is a 186A which I think is HR vintage but most of it should be the same. I just haven't done anything with the motor since I got it, would like to do a service and tune, maybe diagnose why it is using oil (oil is disappearing but it doesn't smoke).

I may have time next week to scan the relevant pages and email it to you. Let me know if you don't have it already and still need it.

I'd appreciate that. The engine is a 186A so as long as the info is compatible with that, any info on engine and tuning would be good.
How'd you find all the alternate energy stuff I got for you?

You could get yourself a HR service manual, it has all the info you need for the 186 Motor. It has all the info you need for tune-ups.

Did you end up getting the info? If not. I'll go and find the manual and scan what you need.

Hi p38arover,
No, I never managed to find one, I'd be very grateful if I was able to get a scan of the engine and fuel system/carby section parts of the 186 manual. I'm sure if it was uploaded to the links or manuals section on here that many members with Holden engined Landrovers would benefit.
Many thanks.

I found cover art for the manual I used to have (I have it here, somewhere, just can't find it), and it has all the info you need. I will have to get another one myself from the look of things, as I have two Landys with Holden engines. One 186, and the other a 202.

Found that Rare Spares (MANUAL WORKSHOP EH HD HR HOLDEN | Rare Spares Online Shop (http://www.rarespares.net.au/rarespares/ProductPage.aspx?product=WSM+63-68)) have them. They are a reprint, but should have all the same info as the original print.. The manual also has all the info for stripping down, and rebuilding the engine, as well as all the tuning specifications.

No problems - I'll do it this evening (I'm about to go out).

I was wrong. My manual is for a 3.3 litre (202 cu inch) as used in the '84/85 VK Commodore. Dunno if that would be useful or how similar it is to earlier 202s as used in my IIA.

I think they would be the same tuning wise but there are asome slight differences.
I've actually got onto my local library who has a copy of most of them so I'll check and if they have the correct one I'll be doing a copy of the relevant sections.
