V8 Radiator sludge removal

I am needing to clean out a radiator that has been removed from the vehicle. What is a good solvent to loosen or dissolve the sludge in the bottom of the radiator? Is it okay to reverse flush the radiator? LRT.

Go to a well known radiator repair center, I am sure they will do it for you at very little cost.
