Has anybody replaced their sliding heater fan switch with something more civilised? Mine is a bit worn out and I was thinking off getting a rotary switch to mount on the dash which is more ergonomic/ user friendly than the current set up.

Any ideas?

Hi Bambusa

That switch lever, in my '96 110, has a cable attached to it as well.
The cable heads off in to the murky distance in the direction of the heater box. so the switch maybe better repaired and left as is or replaced with the same arrangement.

Cheers Arthur

In addition to being a variable switch, the lever also operates an air flap via a bowden cable.

If you fit a rotary switch, you have to leave the lever to operate the flap, or fix the flap so that it's open all the time.

The switch part can be replaced with a 3-Speed Fan Switch (and corresponding Resistor) from a Mini Metro/Rover 100, which fits perfectly into the Headlamp Levelling Switch position in the 2002 model's dash console.
