Fuel gauge prob

Hi got a 94 3.9 and i go to fill it up and fill it to the top and ity reads 3/4 is there a fix or is a norm prob with them......

It could be either electronic or mechanical.

My first guess is that the float rod has been bent when putting a new sender/fuel pump unit into the tank. It has to be rotated around and a careless mechanic could bend it. You can probablyt see a bend in the wire.

The test is to remove the unit from the tank and run the float up and down and see what the gauge says and bend the unit until when it is full it reads full. If it is going to the end of the resistor and still reads only 3/4 then that is a different problem with the gauge itself or with dirty connectors or earths.

Havent been using that E10 fuel at all???????? My fuel gauge shows incorrect readings if I use E10 fuel. After the second tank or normal unleaded the fuel gauge reads right. Bob
