Hi all,

My drivers door doesn't always open when using the exterior handle. I removed the door liner to adjust the length of the connector (Haynes manual says it is a nut). I wasn't able to adjust the link but tried to put the cover back on. The clips are still in the door so I assumed I needed to remove them in order to get the cover back on. I cannot get them out though without breaking them. I am going to buy some new ones but the main question is...
How do I get the broken bits out? The orange circles that the black clips go through, are these expendable?

Thanks
P

Oh, any advice on sorting the door handle?

I just took off a door trim tonight and they're pretty hard to do without breaking clips. I had some spares on hand and went to put them on only to find they were the wrong type (I needed the red ones but I had black spares and they didn't fit right...maybe I wasn't doing something properly but I didn't try for long). If any of them break in the door I just use some pliers to get them out but you want to leave the orange/yellow rings in the door and you shouldn't have to hurt them to get the broken bits out. To get s door trim off along with the plastic clips intact I stick a flat something in the gap right where the clips are and at each clip just pry it out of the door a certain way that doesn't hurt the door itself or the clip. Tricky business though, I don't think it can be done without breaking some.

When my door will not open from outside I open door from inside the give latch & striker good spray of Lanoline spray. This solves problem for a while. give a spray every couple of months or when door become hard to open.

but the correct trim removal tools from auto one, repco, etc, makes life alot easier and you dont end up breaking things with pliers and screw drivers.

+1 to what Ade said

I recently removed the trim from all four doors using the trim removal tool, and didn't break a single clip.
