Looking at getting the 130s windows tinted. The company I was recommended just came around and had no confidence in doing the curved corner windows. Ultimately, we both agreed not to proceed as he couldn't guarantee they would come out alright.
This is disappointing - there's not way I'm getting the rest of the windows done and leaving these clear.
Anyone know of a decent place in Brisbane (preferably mobile or northside) that can do the job?

Hi Ranga. I have just been through this. The mobile tinter I used had four attempts on the day (and this is with the windows out) and then they both let go overnight. He ended up collecting them talking them away to do and keep an eye on for a week to make sure the tint would stay put. Hell of a nice guy and hats off to him for the effort to get it right.
I'm not sure if he'll want to attempt it again, but it wouldn't hurt to give him a call.

Yep very tricky to do those curved windows, a mate from work did mine, slightly darker than "normal" tint, had a few goes to do the curved ones. In the end, he did an excellent job and have had no problems. Lol a bit too fussy for me but that is good I guess. I will ask him for a price and if he is able to do it. Only thing is he lives in Jimbogan! ;-)

He said he'll do it if I take the windows out.
How hard are they to get out, and more importantly, how hard to put back in?

don't think it would be too hard. but i have only watched someone else do it and he had the right tools...
basically made up of 3 parts. the rubber seal which seals the window to the frame, the window it's self and a 'filler' strip which spreads the seal so it's tight up against the window and frame. I would want someone else there to help you so you don't drop the glass.
just watch this...;)

Just to clear up any possible misunderstanding - the 90 and 110 wagons have a "squared off" back which differs from the 110 and 130 truck cabs which have curved back corners. The windows in the truck cab decrease in radius from bottom to top, making them a sort of part conic shape. The window tint is applied by starting at the top and is then heated and stretched as it's worked down the window.
As far as putting the windows back in, I have almost completely rebuilt a 130 from the ground up myself, and this is the one job that I have given up on and am going to have to pay someone else to do it. I wasted 4 hours of my life :(. It could just be my vehicle, but the shape of the window doesn't quite match the shape of the opening in the body.

I got the windows re-tinted 2 yeasr ago. Didn't get the curved ones done at the time due to the canopy I had at the time & my reluctance to take it off. The tinter just wanted a clear shot at it & said to come back when ready
I'll admit, no-ones has ever noticed that they're not done. :D
The guy is on South Pine Rd, Brendale, close to the rail x'ing though the name I can't remember at this stage. Came recommended to me.

I found a good way around this problem was a few coats of black paint on the inside of the window. It stops 90% of UV rays, but the real afficionado would replace the glass with checkerplate and paint it pink so it looks like a real hairdressers car

There is a tint company at the back of the railway station in Cooperoo in Brisbane
They did my 90 and disco
But they do all the Land Rovers for the Land Rover dealerships in Brisbane. If anyone could do it they could, they always have loads of la dies on there.
Forgot the name of the company as both time they have done my cars it was a cash job, under the table and half the normal price :-). And that was with the top uv protect stuff

If someone can find the name of the company Ali recommended it would be good. Thinking of getting the wifes 90 done (and mine when it's back on the road).
TIA

Local Tint-a-Car want $460! They remove the rear quarter windows to do it.
Tint-Mart will do it for $320, which I'm seriously considering. Just trying to decide whether to go with the 35 (I assume the amount of light % it lets in) or 20 tint (technically illegal). I think I'll go with the 35. Not sure how they do the quarter windows.
