Has any one had a problem with the carpet in the drivers side foot well. As our new car with 7k's on the clock has a bald spot where the fluff has come away from the backing where your left heal rests. Landrover has said that it has been caused by "EXTERNAL INFLUENCES" and not covered by warranty, it started from about 3k's.

Don't take that, when we got our xtrail the DS wore out prematurely plus the pass side was always falling out from under the sill trim. Had 5 sets of carpet before fixing the pass side issue and finally they had new carpet made to keep me happy. The apprentice was a gun at removing the seats and interior after the first 3 times apparently. Of course took me emailing both Nissan Aust and then Japan before they'd action it.

What external influences are they suggesting? They great carpet munching thief of 2011? at near 100K for a car, leather made from specially bred cows, surely they aren't suggesting that the sheep are bred to wear out sooner than cheaper breeds.

If the tufts are coming away, then it should be warranty.

If the tufts are wearing away, then it would be considered wear but at 7000km it should be considered premature wear.

Premature wear is a called a manufacturing defect for warranty purposes.

Did the knock back come from Land Rover themselves or the dealer?
If the dealer, get them to actually work out if it is the carpet falling apart or wear & tear.

If falling apart, then it's warranty clear & simple.
If they think it's wear, tell them you think it's premature wear & get them to take photos & approach LR technical for their opinion.

Tell 'em "If you think that's premature, give me 15 seconds and I'll show you premature"

Austral claim it's wear from high heals, Landrover Customer Care (hee hee) say it's external influences. I am trying to get a meeting with the dealer principal for a face to face. This is B.S
