If you're into technology you'll have many happy hours of playing with this new toy ahead of you. The number and scope of apps that are available is very impressive.

A mate who is not so 'confident' with technology recently bricked his iphone 3 - tried to jailbreak it but lost patience with it, restarted it while it was only half done and ended up with a very non-functioning phone.

He made a claim on his phone insurance with a story about an SES floodboat and the phone dropping out of his pocket into the river...they were going to pay the claim if he paid the $300 excess.

So I was going to 'try my hardest to fix it' and if I got it working I'd pay some of his excess and keep the phone.

Fixing it was a 20 minute process involving a google search and a few mouse clicks later I had it restoring updated firmware and all was good to go again - minus all his apps and music etc. It was a hard call to make to tell him it was working again.

But then his lovely wife became involved and cancelled the insurance claim! But by crikey I was a bloody happy 2-days-only iphone owner!

Enjoy yer phone ya lucky bugger.;)

our company used hdc hd2's linked to our corporate network.....the phone just could not cope...........i'm sure as a stand alone phone it would have been great

hopefully the desire works out

pretty sure i will not be able to download apps, couldn't on the htc, we have to make a request though our IT department

all i need is email and to be able to make a phone call and send a text when i want, i spent more time pulling the battery out of the htc and putting it back in to reset frozen screens i.e. today the phone did not function for two hours

Mm I think you wifes phone has a serious problem as my iPhone 3 or my wifes iPhone 3 don't do that and never have

I have an iPhone 3 I use for work. It's my phone but work pay me $20 a week to use the email on it as I get a company phone but they won't let Internet be on them. But I use mine more as a PDA than as a phone. Have all my music on it plus Tom Tom and my work email. It saves me about 2 hours a day. I used to come home and turn on the laptop and check my emails and reply now I get them though the day.
Just got a company iPad it is a 64gig 3 g one with a years 3 g on it but I got that because it was lying around and a customer did not want it as it was not a iPad2

Kelvin, get a silicone sleeve for it. That will stop it sliding out of your pocket.

Not coping with amount of calls and keep freezing up etc.

Lets see what the HTC is like before i get too excited

so far so good, being an apple the menu seem easy enough to follow..........and i have even worked out how to add an email account, i wonder if work know this is left open to us.......

not sure what they have done with my apple id, they said i should be able to select mine for apps that i want but work would not support..........once i sort this out i will be able to download apps

Ahh, that's a bugger.

My Dad has a HTC Desire I think and he's fairly happy with it. He and Mum are in their van travelling WA at present and Dad was impressed that it can act as a mobile WiFi hotspot so Mum can access the interweb on her laptop while he's using his. It beats the NextG modem of mine that they've taken with them.

I hope the HTC does the job for you.

well, so far so good, its a bit more involved to access menus and send emails or sms messages but I had no crashes so far. Well they ar enew I guess too.
My wifes never ever(touch wood) plays up, just our work ones. Strange.

When the Telstra rep came to collect them he showed me the lot he picked up from a surveying company that same morning, all had same issues and they are going to do a batch check and see what could have gone wrong.

Whole thing has suddenly blown way out and we just got a $2k credit on our account for any inconvenience. Not much but its actually shows Telstra is starting to listen and perhaps care. (Really??).

Time will tell.:)

I came across these in China last week........ couldn't resist and bought one!

Does everything that the real one does...apart from being water proof, bouncy and no GPS.

You gotta love the Chinese eh!
