Aligning doors

My doors are a little out of alignment (aren't they all?!). It's never bothered me much, except mine are leaking a bit of air - mostly at the top of the windows - and the wind noise and breeze in winter is a bit much to bear.

I've temporarily fixed the problem by using some self-adhesive foam on the door which jams up against the rubber on the vehicle. I'm curious how much work is involved in fixing them cause of the problem, rather than attacking the symptom.

Do I simply bend the door frame back in somehow?

What is the condition of your doors seals?Also maybe the door latch on the pillar needs adjusting?

I know on ours the passenger side door frame around the window is little out of wack it use to leak when we got it but I replaced all the door seals and seams to have fix it for now.

We must catch up soon so I can have a look at the 130, have you still got the 110?

The door seals look pretty good. Perhaps I might adjust the latch and see how that goes.

Keen as to catch up - yet to try out the Detroit on the 130! :D I'll give you a call tomorrow.

Hmmm... I changed my mind on the camper - didn't really like the custom RTT, and he wanted too much for the rest of it. I did however decide to buy his plain canopy. Just need to put on the alloy tray I picked up to I can pick up the canopy?

A mate is meant to be helping me with the tray, but he's always bloody busy :(

It is possible to adjust them

You'll probably need an impact driver to crack the screws off. (hopefully they aren't rusted in) The screws in the front bulkhead have a captive nut mounted to the firewall, it's possible to get some movement out of the doors there. From memory I think it's the same on the rear doors

The doors themselves just have a nut on the back

With the help of another person, crack off the screws (while the other person holds the door), get them to lift or drop the door. Twisting clockwise will lift the rear of the door, anticlockwise will drop the back of the door etc it's really trial and error. Once you think it's right just nip the screws up and check it looks right and shuts well

Then re tighten all the screws
Depending how rusty the screws are it may be worth pulling them out one by one and giving them a coat of Anti-Seize

I would buy another 110, as Ive been looking for a project just cashflow holding me back and wanting to get the current fender sorted.

Hinges may also be worn, upsetting alignment.
