Having some trouble finding a rear welch plug for the block on my 2.25 petrol? Anyone have any idea where to get these? It seems like it needs to be a cap more than a conventional welch plug? Any help would be awesome

I just spent a couple of hours today doing a trackside bodge repair on 2 screw in type alloy welch plugs on top of the cylinder head, under the rocker cover that had corroded and sprung leaks, filling my crankcase up with a watery oil mixture, which in turn was getting sucked into the inlet manifold. The clouds of thick smoke that ensued could have prompted a visit from the local CFA. I have owned many different brands of old clunkers in my time, but I've never known an engine other than the 2 1/4 litre that can efficiently burn such huge quantities of oil and muck without regularly fouling spark plugs.2 1/4s are brilliant in that regard. I haven't had my plugs out in 8 years.
One could spend many hours chiselling out the remains of a corroded alloy welch plug to expose a clean thread in the head for a new one.
My 52 year old engine is about ready for the knackery, and I didn't have spare plugs anyway,so I drilled out the corroded holes in the plugs, tapped a 5/16''unf thread in them, then screwed a short bolt with large flat washer and loctite into each hole. Good as new now:)

I also need to change the welch plug in the back of the block, but my early series 2 has a smaller cup plug that is 1 3/8.
When I purchased the plug from REPCO it is multi sized as 35mm, 1 3/8.

Also when I looked in my Series 2A parts book this size of 1 3/8 plug is mentioned.

I hope this helps the next person looking for rear welsh plugs.
I aklso think the plug in the front of my block is 1 3/8 as well.

As I have just repaired the hole in the firewall from a previous owner replacing the plug on the road ? I will change the plug bewfore reinstalling the engine.
