steering shaft replacement

Hi Guys
I have had an on going issue with the power steering of my 2004 td5 auto. The steering becomes very heavey when travelling at low speed ie parking reversing etc. The power steering pump was replaced under warranty but it did ot solve the problem well it did for a while. The problem is now most of the time. I have been told to replace the steering shaft does this sound like a sensible approach to this issue ? Any advice would be very welcome

If the steering shaft on the D2 is like the RRC/D1 shaft, then they become notchy when turning rather than get tight at low speeds.

I assume you've done the obvious checks of tyre pressures/ball joints. Have you jacked up the front end to see if it's wheel load related?

It might be worthwhile getting the PAS pressures checked if the new pump fixed the problem for a while.

I will get a Pas pressure test done and see how it pans out
the car is going to be serviced next week and I will get them to do it then
