I had a chat to another Defender driver today whilst waiting for school to finish. I see a few around my neck of the woods (a 110 on Military Rd and a 130 in the foreshore) plus another 110 that is around occasionally..
How many forum users here are from SA?
Are you all members of the SA Land Rover club?
We should organise a day and have a show and dirty (don't think they shine do they?).

I usually see either a County or other on the way to work. There is a blue County for sale in a auto electricians on Tapleys Hill road that I looks quite nice. I know where a black 90 lives during the day (near my work).

I have only once waved and not had a wave back to a Fender or County.

I was thinking we all meet somewhere for an afternoon at a nice pub and have a beer and a general look at every ones trucks and what mods have been done etc. Call it the AULRO Defender/County/90/110/130 and anyone else who wants to come along day.

I see that county all the time, but its the Unimog behind it that usually catches my eye. I also know where a 90 and a 120 live during the day...

My garage! :wasntme:

Great idea on a meet and greet by the way - I'd bee keen to catch up. I'm in Grange by the way.

Cheers

I used to love driving Unimogs when I was in the Army. Nothing like banging around the bush in one of those.

That place also had a red county with a pop top out the front for a while and there are all manner of rangies out the back. I keep meaning to stop and say hello but he is never open when I go past.

IF we get more replies I am sure that something can be organised :)

I live in Largs but was in Semaphore for 14 years, great area. However you Defender blokes might not talk to a D2 TD5 owner. Anyway, it would be a great idea to get some fenders/countys in one place. I'll drive the D2 past to let it have a look at what it might get traded up for in a few years. cheers, blackjack.

You would be welcome blackjack. At this rate it be a fairly small affair.

Are there any more out there? Don't be shy.

How does three weeks time sound? Either the 2nd or 3rd of July?
Place TBA - any preferences or suggestions welcomed.

Not a County but a stage 1 v8. (Leaf springs). I took it for a test drive the other day but decided it was a bit too heavy for my wife to drive. I live in Hendon and I just bought a 93 defender from Canberra a week ago. If you guys make a day I'll try to be there.

It looks in pretty good condition (from the road).
I have been tempted to drop in to have a look.

You would be most welcome to join us. I am desperately trying to sort out my Defender this week for a trip on the weekend so I will do some organising next week.

Here it is this evening whilst we were fitting the tent.

If you know of any other SA based Defenders/ Countys. Series/ 90/ 110/ 120 or 130's invite them as well,

I hope the weekend trip went well. Look forward to seeing the setup in the flesh. I have a similar setup on mine (120 tray with a trayon fitted at the back) and absolutely love it (image below).

Speaking of which, the 2 - 3 July weekend may be a bit difficult for me. I would only be able to make it on Saturday in the morning / day (have to leave by 3pm). The weekends either side of the 2-3 July weekend are good on either Saturday or Sunday at this stage. Hopefully we can tee something up.

Enviable shed by the way!

Ok everybody....how is either the 9th or the 10th?

It will have to be an afternoon thing (kids footy in the morning).
Suggestions for locations if you have any please :)
If you know other defender/ 1XX/ County drives please invite them along as well (discos etc welcome too)..

Offender90 - it is my works shed/warehouse. I wish I had something similar at home. I have a carport only which makes it hard to do things at night in the cold).
The tent was awesome - but the only photo I have is of it half set up. I need to go camping again so that I can take a proper pic (and enjoy it some more).

Hi Cornbread. I was thinking an afternoon at a pub would be a good start but I have put the call out for suggestions of locations etc.
If that is what we end up with then I think you will be ok :)

The tent is an Uptop Camper one off ebay.
It looks the same as the ARB ones and is supposedly made in the same factory.

Either day will work well for me. Locations - somewhere central, with a decent size carpark... errrm... Grange hotel?

Maybe The Gov? - It's just outside the city, plenty of parking, good food and $5 Coopers pints.

Cheers
