Its been ages since I went fishing so after consulting my Anglers Almanac it was predicted to be a good fishing day at 1.56pm.Cool gentleman fisher hours.
Headed over to The Dawesville Cut at Mandurah, started fishing at around lunch time.
Only fished with my 10ft rod, decided to target Whiting for the day.
At around 1pm the fish started getting very interested in baits, lots of small fry chewing the bait off.Soon as the tide hit full the fish stopped biting, there were a few dolphins and shags that MAY have helped chase them out.
I had a good day, caught 7 King George Whiting, released 2 below the legal 28cm,the other 5 were 30cm.KG Whiting are one of the BEST tasting fishies in the sea:cool::cool::cool::cool:,managed to catch a herring for the 2 cats to share:cool::cool:.
Had a great day, weather was perfect, ocean was like glass.Every man and his boat were out on the water.

Hi Andy,
Lucky cats:p:p:p
With a bit of planning I'll join you for a beach fish. I usually fish at Yanchep, mainly because my parents (and grand parents before them) have a holiday house up there. Sort of my training ground as I grew up fishing from there as a kid...
Hence I love whiting, herring and taylor. Last time out there I caught a Long Tom.
Cheers

Gday Andrew,
Good to hear you got a feed, didn't think there would be any fish left at dawsaville cut..
Anyway I stopped fishing today, going home and enjoy some time on land.
hope you get to do some more fishing again sooner rather than later.
Cheers Ean

I do intend getting out and about;);););)
I will in the new financial year be investing in a tub of my own,SMALL on your scale, but a tub of my own.
If I find a Darwin boat Im interested in I may well ask you to have a look on my behalf.
It seems WA boat prices are quite inflated in comparison to the rest of Aussie.
BLAME THE MINERS I SAY:p:p:p:p:p
Would LOVE a trip up to your world to collect a boat:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Funny that, when we had our boat hire business (4.5 mtr tinnies) I always thought Darwin boat prices were expensive.
Hope you get the chance to come up sometime, especially when im home.
Cheers Ean

Would LOVE to get up there Ian.
I have a Coles bag full of bait,it has everything in it.Your prawns and squid,Pilchards, herring Ive caught,Octopus, whitebait etc etc etc.
When I go fishing I fire up the engel the day before,I only defrost bits of bait as I need it.There is bait in that bag, that lives in our main freezer, that has been on 6 fishing trips.
That Engel in the D2 has saved me HEAPS in bait costs:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Sounds like fun Andy.
If you are doing any fishing/crabbing in the future I would be keen to tag along...
(also... would now be a good time to mention I have just rebuilt my saw - thanks to Serg - and Bec tells me the wood pile is getting low...)
On the topic of boats, I am looking at getting a ~5 m plate boat built over here by a guy I know. If you are interested I can let you know how much once I have a price.
If I go ahead I will build an "offroad" boat trailer myself, register it and tow or backload it to Brisbane to pick up the boat. I am thinking LR hubs and air springs at this stage...

Planning on 5m open hull, tiller control w flat/clear floor. I.e. as light and simple as possible but with as much space as possible.
I can't understand why people have alloy boats with forward controls.
Will probably run ~ 60 HP.
