Anyone got any thoughts on making a wheel carrier (for 1 or 2 x 33" spares) that attaches via the tow hitch on a dual-cab 130?
Would it be too much weight too far back?

watch the weight stays under the max towball weight and you should be ok.

yep, the concept one that I have gives you a hinged mount that locks down and the back of the wheel holder doubles up as a table/step/work platform.

yep, the concept one that I have gives you a hinged mount that locks down and the back of the wheel holder doubles up as a table/step/work platform.
I have a simalar concept in mind, mine mounts off the eyes at either end of the towbar and swings down. I have made a prototype of the frame, but have not yet worked out how to lock it in position, or how to assist the lifting of the frame for female use. I am thinking of a torsion spring similar to what is used on a horse float tailgate.

With a 110 the tow receiver and the rear crossmember are pretty much at the rear of the vehicle making this relatively possible.
With a 130, whether you have a tub or tray, the rear of the vehicle is generally a fair distance behind the tow receiver. Problematic.
You also need to consider how you’ll be able to swing the wheels away to get access to the rear of the tub or tray. Plus it would be quite a heavy thing to put on and off the vehicle so don’t anticipate doing that too often !

I'd like to think 2 people could attach/detach it. I'll investigate further, as other than the roof, I'll have no other real option with my camper canopy on.

yep if you have the barn door on a series the tailgate lugs go unused, the solution to holding it inplace is to mount the wheel as low as practicable and then use a series tailgat set of hinges and the lock rings after installing the normal tailgate locks.
mount a decent extanding light bar onto it and then you can use the light pole to lift it up with.
no photos, it only really got to drawings stage when we still had big red but a simple wire frame up confirmed that it would fit and work, but I never really adequately solved the holding it in the up position problem without it rattling and banging about.

Mine is a little more complicated being on a 130 tub, but I will have to have another crack at it. Just too many jobs to do at the moment.:(
