Hi All,
My wife left for work this morning in our 03 D2 and was back in a short while stalled in the driveway. She informed me that she couldn't get any speed out of it and it was missing.
Now I have a nanocom evo but not much idea of things computer based, however I plugged it in and under TD5 engine read the fault
Road speed Limp 22-01. I cleared the fault and it went fine for a short distance before limping and missing again. The fault code refers to ABS
hub sensors. My question is does limp mode come with an accompanied
miss and do hubs have to be removed to check the sensors. Thanks in advance and I hope I have done this right.

MAF sensor. Not sure about "limp" mode but mine wouldn't shift above 3rd, just revved and dropped back into 3rd and lost power. Also on hills/under load would do the same, loss of power and weird gear shifts.

Why is it everyone with an issue I can help with pratically is in another state?

What happened there?
Am I in the right place or should I limp to Technical Chatter maybe?

I am guessing you have a rear wheel sensor fault, which is the source of the speedo signal.

Have you gone into ABS diagnostics? This should confirm a faulty wheel sensor.

If it was missing, the injector loom may be at fault but this should also show up as a fault on the analyser.

I am not all that familiar with the Nanocom at this stage as I use another diagnostic tool.

The Slabs(ABS) haven"t logged any faults and the Td5Engine only logged the 22-01
fault once, but each time I press "clear fault" I can then drive a few hundred yards before it reverts to slow mode and doesn"t operate on all cylinders

The auto gearbox is responsible for limp mode more often than anything else. Do the M + S lights come on?

No warning lights, just this partial shutdown of the motor. If left a little while it starts and drives perfectly for a distance before losing power and stalling.

Sounds like you may have a fuel pump fault, does the sound of the pump change at all when left for a short period, does it rev in neutral ok.
I would check the pressure first and go from there.

Guys,
I have a 2004 TD5 D2a which is doing exactly the same thing after a heavy session of sand driving on Goolwa beach. When I left the beach I was in what I now understand to be "limp home mode". The gearbox was understandably hot but no warning lights came on. Whilst on the beach due to the unusally soft sand I remained in high range but locked the gearbox in 2nd with the CDL engaged and I drove like this for around 9kms (no faster than 40km/h) and the car coped very well with no signs of getting bogged.
Now I have the car in limp mode and suggestions of oil in the engine and injector looms as well as a possible fuel pump failure have been suggested as to the cause but without a nanocom I cannot be sure. As far as the gearbox is concerned the M&S lights have not come on at all and the car starts first time but idles in neutral albeit lumpy but responds to a prod on the accerator. Of course when you move off you get the limp home performance descibed below.
Before I begin pulling out the looms is there anyway (without a nanocom or taking the car to the mechanic) I can rule out the gearbox as the culprit as I'm sure this is where my problem lies?
Many thanks
Rob

In limp mode and missing

Sounds like the wife could put in more effort?

Have you checked you engine harness for oil ingress?
If the engine ECU is not giving the Auto ECU the correct signals then the auto will play up, as it protects itself from wrong signals and poor drivibilty.

Thanks guys turned out to be oil ingress in the injector harness and magnified by a slowly dying fuel pump. Both now replaced and she is as good as new.
