Hi all, the old D2 has over the past 2 months developed a slight/quiet clunk when steering, I dont know if its related to the ACE, steering box, or something else. Doesnt seem to be getting much worse its just something I want to fix before it does.

Reasonable advice welcome

Before you get on my back Pedro, yes I did a search but didnt find I any answers that met with my thoughts ;)

And I still love the D2, pic here. :D

Possible problem in the one of the steering shaft unis between the steering column and the steering box? These become knotchy when turning the wheel.

Had a steering clunk (D2 99) that generally only kicked in with slightly exaggerated lane changes or correction of the wheels sorta felt like something shifted sideways a tad metal on metal.

Had the lower ball joints replaced... problem solved. Have a look at the tie rod ends as well.

Thanks chaps

so tie rod ends are probably a good starting point as its probably the easiest to do. I guess that after 230k klm and 12 yrs all the bushes need replacing by now. :)
