Hi,
Just wondering which uhf radio to purchase and the best location? Dash or overhead. May be getting an HF set too and would like to get some feedback please.

Cheers

Hey there Nungarra,

I had a D2 back in the day (was an 04 model) but basically similar interior.

I had both UHF and HF fitted.

I had a GME TX4400 mounted overhead just to the rear of the RVM on that wonderful little console thing that carries the sunroof controls and I think Nav stuff on other models than mine was.

I have a photo somewhere of this but can't find it just now. Will post if I can track it down.

The HF main unit (Barrett) was mounted on the cargo barrier up high. For reasons of short transmission lead to auto tune antenna. The remote head was in a console made by Dept of the Interior in Sydney, which was mounted on the dash where the odds and sods tray is. The auto tune was mounted on a custom bracket behind the spare on the rear door.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Iain

Hey again Nungarra,

Found a couple of photos while seeking something else on my PC at the weekend.

Here's where the UHF was mounted. The 6dB antenna was mounted on the bull bar.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Iain
