I have re-posted the Land Rover Jamboree information to General because it is a inter-club trip and it dawned on me that others form the invited clubs may not be able to access our trips section so.

Ok Folks, its time to get ready for the Inter-Club Trip / Land Rover Jamboree

The Trip-Sub-Committee has approved the final format for this event, which hopefully should be different to the usual GCLRO Trip.

We have framed it along the lines of a Top Gear Challenge, so your task is to select a Land Rover, which you think will be the most suitable to perform a series of challenges. :)

HOW HARD COULD IT BE...

As in Top Gear the produces do not give much away, but we will say that you will NOT need a super modified Rover to compete, in fact a modified Rover MAY be a disadvantage.
In other words the grading for the challenge event is Blue.
There will be side trips up to Black.

If you wish to complete the challenges you will need to bring with you the following

5 Oranges
2 liter Ice Cream Container (Empty)
A piece of rag the size of a tea towel.

So select the best Rover you can get your hands on and go to Janowen Hill 4wd Park by 8:30am Saturday 25th June

See you there :D

I was wondering if this was still on. Did not hear much about it apart from it being the date set a while back. We will see if there is any interest to come down from our club. I will let you know.

Ok so Cheeky, Cheryl, Henry and I bravely ventures out into the wilds of Goombah to check out the park

We met Jan, and picked a campsite, for us. We are in the old campsite, down by the creek, very nice spot.
Jan also kicked in a prize for us, she is offering a 2 car weekend pass to the park, for us to give away

We will start the challenges at the Campsite at 9am then moving to the Gymkhana area for some more challenges, followed by a drive into the park.

Cheeky had a shot at all the challenges that we intend to run. Henry and Cheryl had a ball, laughing nearly all afternoon.
So I think watching will be half the fun, I is not meant to be a serious competitive event, but we should have some fun along the way.

Friday night arrivals
Proceed to the old Campsite, (thought the second gate just past the new Campsite which you will see from the main road)
Follow the signs along the main 2wd track past the toilets and showers down to the area next to the creek.
Owen will be over later with forms for us to fill out, that or we will go over to the shop in the morning.

Saturday Morning arrivals
Allow 10 minutes extra to proceed to the shop, 2 km past the main gate, to register and pay the park fees.
Then come down to the old camp site, drop camping gear and proceed to the Show and Shine area, which will be on the flat area just above the camp site. (Show and Shine starts at 9am)
If you are arriving after about 10am we may have moved on to the gymkhana area. Head back towards to shop, immediately after crossing the Grid on the main road, turn off to the right up a black dirt track, through the gate, to the next gate on the right in the park (not the one which says no entry, neighbors place), take the right turn through that gate and travel up the hill and you will see us playing.

Cheers

I have spoken to Owen, he said that provided they are under control and don't disturb the other campers, doggies are welcome.

On another note, campers please note that the Park and shop DO NOT have Eftpos, CASH is required....

Also looks like we might be film stars, a local flim crew maybe attending the park to get some footage....
