Hey all,

Been out this morning in the monsoon to find I have a waterfall coming from my rear sunroof. The headlining is soaked so I decided to try and remove the headlining in order to dry it out and see where the leak is.

Well what a bad idea that was...
I cannot work out how to remove the rear sunroof surround which the headliner is stuck to and to cap it all off the ****ing sunroof is stuck open and won't close!

Anyone any ideas on how I can close it manually? Also any ideas how to remove the liner?

The intention is to get it sealed perm but how to do that? Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Start with a sheet of plastic and some silastic to cover the sunroof opening . You can worry about the rest once you stop the water coming in.

Fortunately, it's in the garage so keeping dry atm. When trying to open it, it makes a clicking noise(assume mech is knackered) but no noise when trying to close, it just won't move!

From memory, try the override drive near the sunroof switch.
In my last disco, the sunroof was aftermarket and it had a slot where you fit an allen key in case switch or motor seizes and you manually wind it open/close.
So where the switch is in the roof, that plastic cover should cover the override mechanism.

Than, check fuses or switch itself.

Think this is an after market, front control panel doesn't control it so it's been replaced in the past. Will try to find the override mech. Thanks

No such luck, I've looked all around the button and mech but no hex screw. The only thing which looked like it might do it is a screw on the aide of the mech with a nut on it. Tried turning both ways but no luck. Looks like I'll be down the local service centre to get em to shut it unless there's another way. Will try getting someone cooperate it while I push it shut then get it sealed properly. Would love to have a dry car! Lol

Any idea if auto glass would fix it and if they are working tomorrow? This is starting to annoy me now! Why do people insist on putting wu roofed in? Aaaarrrggghhh

OK Phil, I have an LRO in front of me that tells how to do it.
The middle and rear sections of te headlining rest on top of the plastic trim sections. You have to pull out the window trim.
The rear sunroof they show is glass with a handle but from what you say , yours appears electric.

It was truly stuffed! Had to completely remove the glass and mechanism. Getting winds reenact sealant and turning it into a sealed window!

why dont you just reverse the polarity of the wires going to the sunroof motor, that way, when you depress the "open" button, it will should shut the sunroof

One of the mech arms was broken so it wouldn't close. Put first round of sealant on and leaking less than before but this weekend is the time to seal with rubber surround aswell! Thank god it's gonna be dry! Bloody sunrooves!!!!!!!!!
