Hi all.

Have a D3 TD6 at present and are very happy with both performance and ergos.
But ideally want to set up a purpose built camper on a newish defender base.
Was thinking 110 Cab chassis/dual cab with camper over or 130 dual cab, but would like ABS and traction control, maybe.
Question is, do you have any photos/suggestions of this config and also can one do something about the drivers seat position. I know there is a section of bodywork at the back of the seat that prevents backward movement, but surely someone has hacked that away.
Also, can the handbrake be repositioned?
Reason: Have had major back surgery and cannot even sit in the thing without cramping up!
But, what is out there that will perform off road like a defender?
Cheers

Hi,
The seats can be elevated a bit with aftermarket spacers ( can't remember the name[tonguewink].
Also the handbrake can be repositioned or replaced with a Discovery unit. Others on this forum have done this.

[1] Seating, there are a number of seat raisers that allow the seat to move further back, while offering a some extra height.

[2] You can look into a slide on camper like a Trayon, or have a look at the Mulgo conversion, which gives you a 130 station wagon with all the benefits of a greater cab.

[3] Handbrake. You can use a Range Rover Classic or Disco 1 handbrake and place it beside the cubby box.

[4] Ashcroft (UK) make a very neat auto gearbox conversion, so if you have a sore back, the removal of the clutch pedal can also give you some extra leg room.
